CHAPTER 109 - AN ARROW BEFORE THE KISS
I'm fucked.
I knew what I expected, but I was still surprised by what I saw in the back alley. I was such an idiot for not running away earlier.
It was Raynevere. Not the clone I fell in love with. But the real biological Raynevere Treenity who has a huge burnt scar on the other half of her face. She is the Masked Kaiser. And to top it off, she is with a huge four-meter-tall buffed Cyberdemon that barely fits the back alley. Not to mention, she got the black-gowned Cyber Witch as her partner.
My attention shifted to the vibrating phone inside my pocket. President Raynevere has picked up the phone, and I can hear her voice inside my muffled speakers. I was about to draw it out, but then-
"Raaaaaah!"
The giant Cyberdemon grabbed me by the body and pinned me to the wall. I accidentally dropped my phone to the ground, leaving my Gladiatrix hanging.
"Gwah!" I cried out loud after having my back slammed into the wall. I tried to struggle and free myself, but it was to no avail. The Cyberdemon is much more powerful than a normal human like me! It is no understatement that this monster can squish me like a bug without exerting any effort!
"Hello? Hello? Zane, are you alright?" The phone vibrated.
The crimson and black witch stomped on my phone, shattering it into hundreds of pieces. The witch smiled at me, her crimson eyes glaring at my soul.
"You seem to be not surprised at all." The unmasked Kaiser, Raynevere Treenity said. "I wear your lover's face, well, only the half one. But you looked like you were expecting what I planned to do. Yet you are a brave idiot for taking the bait."
"W-What do you want!?" I struggled to speak. The Cyberdemon is squishing me hard against the wall, making it harder to breathe and speak.
"Since you already know my secret, you already know everything about me. That damn clone became the president, so you two must have stuck your nose on my records." The real Raynevere said.
"Y-Yeah." I forced a smile. "I know who you are, Raynevere Treenity. You must be so jealous of your clone right now- gah!" I cried the moment the Cyberdemon cracked some of my ribs. I'm about to froth blood from my mouth, but I hang on.
"Jealous, huh?" The enemy's purple eyes stared at me with contempt. She should be torturing me inside her mind as she seemed offended by my words. "Jealousy is just a part of it. That damn clone took everything from me. My life. My career. My family. My company."
Raynevere's half-burnt face pressed unto mine closer until my cheeks could feel her labored breaths. She gave a grin that only the devil could deliver.
"That is why I will steal everything from her. You are the reason why she managed to get up from despair. I will take you away from her, either by force or…"
The psychotic Raynevere pressed her face closer to mine. I saw her half-burnt lips beelining towards mine. I tried to shake her off but couldn't muster the strength.
As she was about to forcibly kiss me, I heard a swift whistle of the wind.
"Graaaaaaaaah!"
The Cyberdemon cried and then fell to the ground. I also got myself kissing the asphalt in the process, but still, it was way better than kissing a genocidal maniac like the real Raynevere. When I looked at the Cyberdemon, I saw an arrow made of energy stuck in its temple.
I heard a series of wind whistles once again. I briefly looked at the source of the sound, and noticed that it came from the skies, where the skyscraping Treenity Innovations Tower was situated! The distance from this alley is about eight hundred meters, and I don't know how an arrow could have traveled that fast and precisely.
But one thing is for sure: It's my Gladiatrix! She must have been looking for me from that tower! She is my guardian angel!
The three arrows that followed were immediately intercepted by the Cyber Witch's fireballs. All three arrows burnt to crisps, much to my dismay.
I took this opportunity to run away. I sprinted as fast as I could, intending to exit the back alley as soon as possible.
"Oh my, I will not let you escape, Elzane Chaldeas!" The psychotic Raynevere dashed to chase me. She was abruptly halted when three energy arrows stabbed the ground right in front of her. "Tsk!" She grunted.
I touched my Kaiser watch and activated my Gladiatrix System.
[Gladiatrix System Online]
I have three Command Card Decks, namely [Practice Deck], [Battle Fiesta Deck], and [Anti-Cyberdemons Deck]. As I remember, the default deck set on my Gladiatrix System is the [Practice Deck] where all sorts of Command Cards are put in haphazardly. As its name implies, its main purpose is to test whatever combo we can have with my current roster of cards.
It's not meant to fight Cyberdemons or even the Masked Kaiser, so I have to manually set the default to [Anti-Cyberdemons Deck] which is optimized for general out-of-tournament and practice use.
"Gladiatrix System default deck set to Anti-Cyberdemons Deck!" I called out.
[Anti-Cyberdemons Deck set as Default Deck]
[Battle Control Online]
As I swiped my hand to make way for five hologram Command Cards to appear, I was stopped in my tracks.
Right in front of me is a gargantuan dinosaur with a large elephant-sized dragon head and long body that could be as big as two big buses. Its razor fangs opened up, ready to chomp my whole body in one bite!
It was a Cyberdemon Tyranno!
