First Night

In an attic, Rin Tohsaka, a girl with black hair that was tied in twin tails, wearing a short black skirt with black knee high socks and a red sweater with a silver cross motif on her chest, stood before a summoning circle.

"Preparations, ready. Time, good. Wavelength, ideal. By performing the summoning at 2AM, when my mana is at its peak, I'll get Saber even without a catalyst. Just you watch!" She said as she braced herself for what was to come.

She grabbed her pendant with one hand and held a book with the other as she began to chant; "Anfang. Heed my words. My will creates your body, and your sword creates my destiny. If you heed the Grail's call and obey my will and reason, answer me! I hereby swear… That I shall be all the good in the world. That I shall defeat all evil in the world. Thou Seventh Heaven, clad in the three great words of power, come forth from the circle of binding, Guardian of the Scales!" With the last lines of her chant, a bright light filled the attic much to the delight of the girl but it soon disappeared as soon an explosion occurred from where the summoning was taking place.

*Boom!*

She protected herself from the explosion by applying reinforcement just in time on her body. "Cough, cough" smoke filled the whole attic, and when the smoke cleared, she saw a huge hole where the summoning circle was supposed to be.

"No way!" She shouted as she ran downstairs.

She tried to open the door but it was stuck in place as a result of the explosion but it wasn't a problem a kick with reinforcement behind it couldn't solve.

*Bam!*

She kicked the door open and finally saw the result of her summoning, a man was sitting on rubble cross legged.

He had tanned skin and a long white hair that was tied at the tip with a black cloth.

He was wearing a black body armor with a red cloth that was covering his sleeves together with a separate piece acting as a skirt.

He had a cocky expression on his face and that irritated her, then she noticed the clock that used to decorate the room but now was among the piles of rubble.

'Wait, all the clocks in the were running an hour early when I woke up this morning. Which means, now it's 1AM… not 2AM…' then she held her head and wallowed in self pity. 'I did it again! Gaaah!'

After she managed to calm herself enough, she realized the futileness of her wallowing. 'Well, what's done is done I guess. *sigh* Why did you give me this task father!'

"*sigh* Alright." She said finally as she returned her attention to the man who was watching her actions with interest. "What are you?" She asked.

"Hah!" The man gave a humorous grunt, "That's the first thing you say to me? Well, I was expecting something like this but a simple hello would have sufficed you know?" He replied while waving his hand.

"Haah just to be perfectly clear, whoever you are, you are my servant correct?" Rin asked as if she was already tired.

"And am I to presume that you are my master? You weren't present when I emerged from the summoning." The man replied with humor in his tone once again.

"Don't tell me you were expecting your master to be sitting here to give you a warm welcome. Give me a break you are not a baby." She replied with an increasingly angry tone.

"In fact I was you know? Was it too much to ask?"

"*sigh* alright just answer my questions okay? You really are my Servant, right? Just mine and mine alone, correct? Master-Servant relationships should be clearly laid out right off the bat."

"Of course. I completely agree with that notion." The man said as he slowly got up from his make-shift throne and approached her. "I am indeed your Servant for the duration of this war."

Upon seeing the full height of her Servant, Rin was intimidated a little bit but then brushed off that emotion. He was her Servant after all. He wouldn't harm her surely…right?

"Great. With that out of the way, you are a Saber class Servant, right?"

"Well, sorry to burst your bubble master, but I am an Archer class servant."

"Gaah! I knew that nothing would go my way!" She grabbed her head once more.

"But I can act as a Saber class Servant if you want?" The man said with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Rin asked confusedly.

"Exactly what I said." The man shrugged once again. "I am quite proficient in close quarter combat too. In fact I should do that to give the other participants in the war a chance of winning too. Otherwise it would be too boring, no?" The man said while holding his chin. "Alright, with that out of the way, now let's go." He said as he turned to walk outside.

"Wait wait wait what are you talking about?! Where are you going?!" Rin yelled with anger.

"To find someone to fight obviously. That's the only reason why I heeded to the call after all." The man said matter of factly.

"Grrr so that's how you want to play huh?! Anfang!" She shouted as she held the arm with the Command Seals on it.

"Wait… are you for real?! I didn't even do anything!" The man yelled exasperatedly.

"I don't care!" Rin shouted furiously. "I am your master and you will obey me!" She shouted as she activated one of the three Command Seals.

A wave of power surged throughout the room and the duo descended into silence.

"You seriously went and used a command seal on that? *sigh*" The man asked with a sigh.

"…let's take this elsewhere." Rin blushed upon finally noticing her blunder and lead the way to her study.

In the study.

"Now, with that out of the name, what heroic spirit are you?" Rin asked as she sat on the couch and held her legs as if she was pouting.

"I told you. Archer." The man said relaxedly as he sat on the opposite couch with his legs crossed.

"Not that! I mean, what is your name?!"

The man was silent for a moment before he answered. "I guess, because of the incomplete summoning, my memories are all jumbled up. Which makes me unable to answer your question."

"Ha?! What do you mean by that?! How can you not remember your name?!" Rin said with an outburst.

"I don't understand how that is relevant master. If you want a name, you can just call me Evander."

"Gaaahh!! This is just my luck isn't it?! How can I know how strong you are if I don't even know your name and your legend?!" Rin yelled as she pulled her hair in fury.

"It's a trivial matter master. Just let me at an enemy, and you will see how strong I am." But the man, now called Evander, wasn't phased in the slightest. He replied with a shrug of his shoulders once again.

"Yeah right… a nameless servant who thinks that he is strong. Ahh I fucked up didn't I?"

"Nah. You did great. Even though it feels weird not being able to access all my abilities and parameters, the mana I get from you is satisfactory. Congratulations, you've won the war already." The man said cockily.

"Sigh whatever I guess… I'm gonna go to sleep now and tomorrow we will go out to do some scouting."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As an apology for not updating for so long, which wasn't my fault to begin with, here comes another chapter I wrote just for fun.
I wanted to try my luck at writing fifth war with the mc instead of normal archer in it. I feel like it came out weird…
Of course it's not the mc of now but from his future self where he accepted the summon for the heck of it.
This was hard to write because I didn't want to give out any spoilers about what I planned for the future in the fanfic so it may seem like nothing changed except for a few stuff.
Anyways, let me know your thoughts about the chapter will ya? Should I write more of this side story or just focus on the main story?
⚠️And as always, drop some stones, comments and reviews if you enjoy the book! They are great motivators for me to keep writing!!⚠️
