Surprise?
I have no idea Britney has a brother, no one ever talk about him, seeing and judging from how everyone's so excited to see him, he must be very popular. He walks down, shaking and hugging till he gets to Megan and I.
"Hey..." He said with a smile.
"What are you doing here??" She asked with a straight face as she stops him from trying to rub her hair.
"Who's your friend?" He replied.
"I'm..." Brittney cuts in.
"... don't answer him. Just keep your distance. Come on Woody." She pulls me away.
"Are we skipping class?" I asked.
"I know a nice place we can chill, wanna chill with me?"
"Yes? I mean yeah, yeah, sure."
"Ok c'mon."
I follow her.
"Yo! Ian..." A student said as he approaches.
"Daniel..." Ian shakes him.
"I got some smoke, how bout we head out?"
"Sure, lead the way." Ian follows Daniel.
A safe hidden spot, somewhere on campus, Woody lies down next to Brittney...
"This place isn't so bad, How'd you find it?" I asked.
"Does it matter?"
"No not really, so you have a brother. I never knew."
"Can we not talk about him, thanks."
"Ok."
We stay quiet for some minutes...
"Do you like me?" She asked.
I sit up right. " What?"
"I said do you like me?"
"Umn yeah I do, isn't it obvious?"
"Why?"
I lie down. "Well I don't know why, you just seem to attract me plus you're brilliant, smart, talented, pretty. And I have to admit your stubbornness makes me want you more.
"But you barely know me, you have no idea who I am."
"Does it really matter, I'd like to get to know you if you give me the chance to."
"It's not that simple."
"Nothing is simple but it can be if you let it be. We all have our secrets."
"Some secrets are better left as secrets. I know you have a secret too Woody. I know who you are."
I sit up right."yo..yo..you do?"
"Yes, doesn't matter how much you hide it. I know you're not a nerd so please stop the act when you're with me."
I let out a soft sigh of relief. I thought my identity had been uncovered. "Yes I'm sorry about that, I just don't want to attract the wrong things."
"Megan seems to like you tho." She turns to me. "Do you like her too?"
"Megan? She does?"
She hits my head.
"Ow! What was that for?"
"I told you to stop pretending to be a nerd, cut the act. You know she does and you like her too."
"Well, if you put it like that then yes."
She gets up and picks up her bag. "Good, now do you mind not letting her down? Just forget about me, ok? I'll see you around." She leaves.
I sigh. "Easier said than done."
Shortly after school ends, I'm on my way to meet Megan who wants to give me a ride home...
"Hey!"
I turn around and see Ian walking to me.
"Urmn hi?"
"Walk with me." He said.
Without second guessing, I follow him. I don't know what it was but Ian has this frightening presence, I couldn't tell if I was being compelled to follow him or I was just scared. It's been quite a while since I last felt this way. I follow him to an empty class.
"Sit" he said.
I sit and wait to hear what he has to say.
"So it's Woody right?"
"Yes."
"So who gave you that name? Doesn't sound quite reasonable."
"My parents I guess..."
"I saw you at our house the other night. Are you a spy?"
"Do I look like one?"
Ian paces around then hits my table.
"Don't try to be sarcastic! There's something off about you and I'm going to find out what it is."
"I'm in love with your sister."
"Wha... What!?"
"I'm in love with Britney Shaw! That's my secret, it was why I was at your house the other night. I was trying to impress her, it's also why I got into the athletic club so I could spend more time with her." I feel this was the best thing to do to avoid unnecessary attention from him.
Ian bursts into laughter.
"Oh my God! Dude, I'm just fucking with you😂."
"You are?"
"Yeah yeah sure. You like my sister? Does she know you do?"
"Yes she does."
"And did she tell you about her little secret?"
"What secret?"
"I guess you don't know then... I won't tell you anything. You might as well find out yourself." He extends a handshake to me. "I'm Ian."
I shake it. "Woody."
"A word of advice for you. Everyone has a secret." Ian leaves.
"I wonder what all that was about." I leave and meet up with Magan.
"What took you so long? Classes ended like twenty minutes ago."
"Sorry."
"Come on, let's go."
She drives me home. Surprisingly Luna was outside. I introduce her to Megan.
"Megan, this is my sister Luna."
"Hi, you're Adorable." Megan said.
"Thanks. Are you his girlfriend?" Luna replied.
Megan chuckles. "Who knows." She turns to me. "Am I your girlfriend?"
"Uhhh, girlfriend? Yes she's a girl and a friend."
"Would you like to join us for dinner tomorrow night?" Luna asked.
"What!?" I exclaimed.
"Yes I would."
"Ok it's settled. 7pm don't be late." Luna said before going in.
"She's nice, I like her already."
"Sure you do." I replied.
"I guess I'll see you later."
"Yeah."
Megan peaks me then takes her leave. I go in and playfully fight with Luna who keeps teasing and yelling "Woody's got a girlfriend!"
