Family is Everything

Well, I realized that when Covid struck, families got separated and people died just like that, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for mom and dad for being there, supporting me even if we faced hardships and poverty. We were able to survive, thrive and now reaping the success since we didn't give up from the trials. And since you're here now, God has blessed me even more, for because of you I found what true love and friendship really means. Mwah!, I love you!, Jade added wrapping her arms around my neck while I lay in bed and kissed my mouth gently at first and then the kiss went deeper and more wanting now. Hmmm!, I just murmured for Jade tasted so sweet like the cake we ate earlier and she smelled so nice, fresh and yummy, so I bit her lip and continued kissing her mouth until my tongue reached her inside like sucking to get a fill of my darling. And Jade let me in and agreed to let me touch her as we made our way to love and made love.

I told Jade that I'll support her no matter what when it comes to her dad. She said that she was happy that I'll accompany her to the hospital. I drove Jade to the hospital and Belinda was already waiting in front of the hospital entrance, smiling at us. Jade got off and hugged her mom and she waited for me to park the car at the nearby parking space at the side of the hospital entrance. Belinda went ahead of us and advised Jade that she'll be preparing a meal she brought from home, a pan of bake macaroni. I felt hungry because we just ate a couple at dad's party but since mom and dad said that they are planning to go on vacation to Santorini. I am happy for my parents, at least dad will have time to rest and really have a good time. After what happened to him, he wanted to make sure he spends his time with mom and us more. He has a lot of money anyway and doesn't need to worry about working hard to earn since he has enough and more. He doesn't even have to worry about Nate and I since we both have a job and business that provides for us. Dad said that we can take care of ourselves already since we are grown-ups, but he is still there for us if we need him. Dad is awesome and I know God has blessed him with so much that I only wish and pray for his health and happiness always be perfect.

But no thing or person is perfect and what is only permanent is change. Jade and I went in Bruno's hospital room. I don't like hospitals though I'm a doctor I seldom stay there for long hours unless I'm needed and intended to be there for my patients. I love working and I adore my work and my staff, it's just that the feel, the vibe isn't really promising. There's always death, grief and misery. I wanted to make a change and change the world for the better by healing and caring for mothers and their babies. Especially the unborn ones but there are clinics and doctors too that perform abortions that crashes my goals on keeping little ones alive for all times. But parents or moms have different priorities and goals in life too, yet I hope they would reconsider the fact that babies are gifts and though I'm not that religious I believe that there is a Supreme Being that makes this possible, having an offspring blossom and develop magically and magnificently inside a mother's womb is far from awesome, a miracle, really.

And life is a miracle. But heading to Jade's dad's room is far from heavenly or a miracle because I already felt the grief when we're already standing in front of Bruno, who had all the tubes and machines stuck to his mouth, body and skin. He looked terrible, though I have seen and studied these things in medical school and in my profession as a doctor, I haven't been more scared than now seeing Jade's dad nearing his death because of the intubator stuck to his throat. He won't be able to speak, but after the tube is taken out of his throat he will heal and his doctor will see if he could live with the help of a machine or none at all. Bruno's surgery is scheduled later before lunch. Dad, hi!, I know you can hear me but know that I have forgiven you already and it's all in the past.

I love you, which I wasn't able to say when I was little. Stay strong and stay with us. I will wait for you when you come out of the surgery room, Jade whispered in Bruno's ear. Bruno opened his eyes and almost smiled but he's breathing is shallow and he gave Jade a thumbs up. He also motioned for Jade to come closer, since he was in the infirmary, we needed to wear suits to protect Bruno from getting infected. Jade moved towards him and Bruno held her chin and touched her cheek. The, the nurse advised her to move aside for his bed to be pushed to surgery and Jade's tears came down but still smiling while her dad continued to look at her then his hospital room door closed before us. Belinda went in and saw Jade crying, hugged her daughter to comfort her. I hugged them both close to me and felt the sadness and pain these two people I care about are experiencing. Belinda smiled at me and though she looked tired she managed to assure us that everything will be alright.

It just took two hours of surgery at least to take off the tube out of Bruno's throat but the implication or it, the complications were high that he needed to stay in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) for now. Bruno couldn't talk because he has suffered abrasions and bleeding due to the metal tube that stuck in his throat for weeks. Though his doctor said he'll be fine but needs to heal on his own with the use of medications such as strong antibiotics and plenty of rest. The doctor said that he is Covid negative but they still need to be sure so, Jade and I still wore the suits and face masks. Belinda offered us drinks and food but Jade didn't feel like eating. Though we just got out of the plane for several hours, Jade is awake and strong, and I don't see any frailty in her until she talked to me about joining her to go to London and stay with her for a couple of days just to have someone there with her for the mean time.

I sent my assistant for my schedule for the rest of the week, and I only have two regular patients for consultation and check-up since both are in their first two to three weeks of pregnancy stages. I advised my assistant to reschedule the check up for next week, It's a Sunday and I want to be with Jade when she needs me. And now Is that time that I can make it up to her from the years that I haven't fought for her and our love even if we were young and all then. Okay babe, I'll stay with you for the week. I'll just advise mom and dad about it and we're good to go.

Book our flights now and I'll call them now. I dialed my phone since it's the cellphone the hospital gave me in case of emergencies and all, I can use it for personal purposes besides calling my parents is very important. Hi, mom, good morning, hehe!, yeah, oh I'm fine mom, how about dad?. Good, that's wonderful, aha, really, and you'll be fine travelling to Santorini?, When, okay, on Monday, cool!. I'll be joining Jade to London, she asked me to come with her since her dad is not in a really good shape now. Yes ma'am all my patients are in good hands if in case they needed a doctor for emergency cases. Yup, okay, Jade, mom, wants a chat with you in a bit!, I said giving my phone to Jade.

I took my personal cell phone and messaged Tina, my assistant and another nurse who is attending to my patients at South California Hospital. I told them that if in case of emergencies just advise or message me on my cell and if the patient needs a doctor for a quick check, just advise Dr. Walter Evans. He is a stay-in OBGYNE and internal medicine doctor who would be more than willing to check on my patients since he has a knack for women, especially good looking women even if they're pregnant. He's harmless and just loves beautiful women and not a harasser. We doctors joke around but when it comes to patients we have code of medical ethics, our Hippocratic Oath which is to treat the sick to the best of one's ability, preserve patient's privacy, teach the secret to the next generation. Patient-doctor relationship entails him or her to have the respect of patients and strengthen bonds between patient and doctor through medical ethics.
