CHAPTER 7: TWO ACTORS

CHAPTER 7: TWO ACTORS

When Lian walked in, Fidel was off to the bathroom. She sat on the couch in the bedroom and rolled the card in her hand. At least he did keep his promise of giving her back her freedom which included getting her back to work.

"I saw the picture you uploaded today. Am getting jealous because people out there are seeing your beauty." Fidel walked out of the bathroom dripping water. His pink lips were wet and his abs couldn't be more visible. His hairy torso dripped, with the tiny hairs sticking to his body making him even more handsome. Lian swallowed hard as she tried to avoid looking at him.

"Hoping there are more restrictions on what picture am supposed to post. I didn't expect you to keep track of what I post." She replied rolling her eyes back to the card.

"How was your first day back at work? If anyone harassed you, just let me know." He said.

"Will you please cover yourself up? I didn't expect you to be such a pervert." She complained.

"Aren't we married?" Fidel asked while pulling his nightgown and covering himself. Of course, he was seeing through her uncomfortable posture and would like to ease the environment a little. He understood that it would take him a whole climbing the mountains and coming down to get this girl to love him and feel comfortable around him.

"Mmh... Maybe we should both enrol in the acting industry. We both know we put on a good show." Lian said.

"I do support that idea because even in acting people get intimate. Maybe I should give them a call so we enrol tomorrow." He said reaching for his phone and dialling.

"Hey... Can you be a normal human being who takes jokes for a while? You can't be taking things that seriously. I really you're a bad husband." She complained.

Fidel dropped his phone and looked go at Lian. Taking the risk of impressing her was like rolling a huge rock with one hand. Almost impossible. Besides, he was only trying to be romantic and any suggestions that could this relationship work, he would risk it. But it seemed Lian wasn't in for anything. One moment she looks like she's in a mood to chat up with him, the next moment she would crush his spirit by telling him he's not a good husband.

He was lost of words.

Morning...

Richard had asked Eva to see him the previous day. So, Eva woke up earlier than usual because she had to go by Robert's house before reporting to work.

Eva would never look down on Richard. He was Lian's best friend and only the recent activities have created a distance between them. Being Lian's best friend meant being Eva's friend too. So the two were still friends. Robert couldn't wait to meet Lian in person.

In fact, the one who leaked the information of Lian's marriage to him that day was Kate. How could he not see through Kate's intentions? Late had been Lian's great rival in everything. And in realising Lian and Robert we're close, she had tried to get to him.

Richard wasn't a first-class tycoon, but he wasn't a low-class beggar either. Although his net worth wouldn't be compared to Fidel's he still had what it takes to have money, ran his own company and even after his own parents passed away, he still resided in his former home saying here he wasn't feeling lonely. To him, his parents were always looking after him.

Lian understood his point of view. Robert didn't believe in afterlife theories. He just didn't want to be desperate so he creates his own company through his own imaginations. He wasn't really lonely because before Lian bumped into Fidel, she would come here with Eva to keep him company, make up for the week they've been busy and even hang put for dinner together. This is why, even though after realising Lian was moving in with someone else he felt bad and lonely, he still couldn't stop wishing her a good life. Deep down, he would have wanted to spend the rest of his life with her but he didn't have the guts to tell her what he felt for her. Well, he wasn't regretting anything though. He did spend a good time with her and Eva after all. But one thing he knew, no man can ever be lucky than the man who marries Lian.

He was still in his thoughts when Eva walked in. After the greetings and a light hug, Eva sighed and looked up at him.

"You're not gone yet." Eva said.

"Yeah... Hope you're fine."

"And... You're really a strong man you know. Didn't you feel anything that day?" Eva asked.

"I felt much, didn't know how to react. But something changed right? Lian is avoiding me. Why?"

"Richard... No one is avoiding you. The situations are right. Besides, Lian has to adapt to everything that comes with being Fidel's wife. It's not easy. That's why she hasn't said anything to the word yet. You know she never chose him," Eva explained while sitting down. "It just happened and... Of course she could have told you if she had a boyfriend. Who wouldn't be happy bragging for winning the heart of the great CEO?"

Richard got a cup of tea for Eva and one for himself and sat opposite him.

"Are you also planning to give me a shock? Secret marriage?" Richard joked.

"Maybe, who knows. Am wondering, who send you the message? Kate?" Eva asked as she sipped.

"Mmh... At first, I never wanted to believe her. You know am not into her dramas whatsoever. But... I chose to believe her this once." Richard said.

"Hope it didn't hurt you. We're still friends and trust me, Lian just wants to put some things straight, then she'll be back to who she was, only that she will be married by then." Eva explained.

"Well, what if am jealous? She's a goddess after all."

Eva wanted to reply but her phone beeped. She looked up at Robert, then back at the message on her phone.

"I told you."

She said as she grabbed the phone and went through the message from Lian.

"Not coming to work today. I have to set something straight here. Meet tomorrow,"

This must be something to do with Kate. That girl knows when and how to screw up but thankfully she got our brave girl.
