Detention for three

"Emilia?" Caelum stood there shocked at the sight of you, waking him up no less. His memories from the previous night started flooding inside his mind and he was suddenly guilty and ashamed.

His eyes widened at your arm, "Did I do that?" he asked lowly, the dread in his voice evident. You bit your lip and nodded slightly, he turned angry from the confirmation but you were certain it was not you, he was mad at but more himself.

"But I know you didn't mean it, and with a little healing potion from the Infirmary, I'll be good as new," you reassured him but he won't have it. He turned around and saw Kieran with his change of clothes, shoes, and the chain used to tie him up. He walked towards Kieran and grabbed him by the collar. Kieran raised his hands in protest, letting go of everything in his arms in the process.

"It's not my fault!" Kieran defended, "She," he said pointing at you, "decided to follow us last night. And you," he said, now pointing at Caelum, "went out of control from the scent of her. I tried to stop you but you wouldn't listen and ran from me, slamming her to the ridge and breaking her arm." they were fighting now, you didn't want more than one of you to get injured so you pushed Caelum back, and he let go of Kieran.

"Let's not make a bigger deal out of this alright? I'm fine if that's what you're worried about, but it's just a sprained arm, nothing a little potion won't fix," you said as you watched Caelum pacing before punching a nearby tree. You were startled and immediately went to him to check his wound but it was already healing.

You made a sigh of relief, "Thank the stars, anyway. The both of you should be more worried about making it to breakfast, more like all of us. And one way or another, they'll find out we sneaked out, so Caelum," you picked up the spare clothes and shoes, then gave them to Caelum. "you should get changed."

"Fine, but let's not assume everything is okay," Caelum said through gritted teeth, shook his head, and was starting to unbutton his shirt when you realized you were watching him so you quickly turned around, blushing.

Kieran approached you and nudged you a bit, "Thank you for last night. I'll make sure to tell him and make him understand that you were just trying to help. He's been always like this, beating himself up when he can't control it." you took a peek and he was already buttoning his new shirt, "He looks cold and mean, rude at times, yes, but he's actually a real softy who couldn't sleep without his stuffed bear when we were younger." and you both laughed at that.

"At least I didn't pee myself almost every night when we were younger." You were startled when Caelum suddenly talked behind you. He looked at you then your shoulder, you could've sworn his purple eyes went darker but they vanished as soon as he blinked.

"Let's go, we still have to treat your broken arm." you nodded and the three of you walked back to the school where, to your surprise, the headmistress, and all the teachers were outside to greet you.

"Detention, now." said the Headmistress. She turned around and went inside, the three of you automatically followed. All the other teachers shook their heads in disappointment, while some of the students were peering outside, curious. Your professor, Mr. Fulton immediately ran toward you and was startled by your condition.

"Are you alright Emilia? What happened and where have you been? Your parents are going to throw a fit when they find out." he said lowly walking along with the three of you, behind the headmistress. "And the two of you," he said pointing to Caelum and Kieran, "what do you have to say for yourselves?" the two boys just shook their heads.

"Leave the discipline to me Andreas, and remove all suspicion and gossip of this matter." the headmistress said as she stopped in front of her office, "As for the three of you, go on in and take a seat." you sat in front of the chair set up in the front of the table while Caelum and Kieran stood next to you.

The headmistress closed the door and walked to the other side of the table. She whisked her hand and two other chairs moved forward from the other side of the room, "Sit." They did.

The Headmistress sat down and put both her elbows on the table, clasping her hands and putting her chin on top, "I am sure you are aware of why you are here." she started. The three of you nodded in unison.

"Mr. Crius and Mr. Delvaux, in the case of the next full moon and the ones after that, mister Delvaux is expected to be locked inside the Academy's hidden cell room underneath the cellar, in the basement," she said that surprised the three.

"I understand your surprise but we were formally informed of your situation by the Crius household before you were admitted. At first, we found it hard to believe but there was no gain for them to lie. Only I and a few trusted personnel are aware of this situation." she held a piece of document with a signed letter, complete with a family insignia on the bottom right above a name.

"In which we were surprised to find that you were not in your designated dorm rooms last night. Do you realize what harm could've come if another student found out? Taking this into your own hands is completely irresponsible and out of the question." she exclaimed. Emilia kept her head down since the only time she got detention was because of an unsupervised experiment she did.

"It was my fault headmistress." you exclaimed, "I asked for them to accompany me to look for ingredients for a potion--" you were cut off when she held her hand up to stop you.

"I am aware of the project miss Bellerose, but you being in the midst of all that is completely dangerous! You could've gotten a much worse injury than that." she glared, pointing at your broken shoulder.

She shook her head, "Covering up for what happened will only make things worse. Now tell me exactly what happened down to the last detail and then we can decide what you're punishment will be." and you did, from when you followed them to the woods to how you were able to tame Caelum.

"I see, but that doesn't mean it would always turn out like this. So for the time being, mister Delvaux is expected to be locked up in the hidden cell room until we come up with a proper way to fix the situation," she said with utmost finality which you weren't given a chance to rebuke.

"But he's never hurt me, he recognizes me and he listens to me." Kieran debated. I can only imagine his pain knowing that Caelum would be locked up, caged like an animal every time he turns into a shadow child during a full moon.

"I understand your feelings mister Crius but it is still too dangerous, you are only allowed outside the cell to keep eye on mister Delvaux but other than that is not allowable. I hope you understand that this is for your sake and that everyone else in this school." she reasoned. I understand her worry, "I mean even I admit I was terrified last night when I saw Caelum in his form." you thought.

"We are truly sorry headmistress, I understand." it was the first time Caelum spoke during the whole conversation, he looked dreaded. "I will comply willingly." you felt sorry for Caelum.

"Wait, what about me? I can accompany him too. Please, and I certainly will not tell anyone about this just please allow me to accompany my friends." you argued which surprised Caelum and Kieran. "Please?" you pleaded. Now that you know the situation, you found it hard not to be there for them when you know that every time the moon was full, Caelum was locked up in a cell howling all alone.

The headmistress sighed but nodded her head, "Alright, but I expect you to keep this a complete secret from every other student. And you are no exception to the punishment miss Bellerose. And for your punishment, two weeks of library duty. Two long weeks of cleaning bookshelves and arranging books, which I think miss Bellerose is quite familiar with." your eyes squinted to how easy the punishment was, which wasn't much of a punishment anyways.

"And before I forget, if any of the students ask, your answer will be the same, it's that you went to accompany miss Bellerose to the woods in search of potion ingredients and got into a certain situation in which miss Bellerose tripped and fell, breaking her arm in the process. Understand?" she set out an alibi for you to tell so your stories would match, brilliant if you do say so yourself. You all nodded in agreement, "Dismissed."

* * * * *

When you got out of the office, Mr. Fulton was outside the door waiting for you, "Emilia thank goodness, you're coming with me to the infirmary." he immediately pulled you away from the boys, "And both of you may proceed to the mess hall for breakfast." mister Fulton said to the both of them but they followed you anyway.

"What did I just say? I can take care of miss Bellerose just fine." mister Fulton said when he noticed that Caelum and Kieran were still following you.

"Uhh, Caelum said his back isn't feeling really good." Kieran slyly reasoned, hitting Caelum in the back where he said it hurt which made Caelum grunt forwards, "See?" making you laugh slightly, though mister Fulton rolled his eyes, unfazed by the obvious lie but let them come anyway.

When you got to the infirmary the school nurse approached you immediately, "Hello miss Felms." you greeted her shyly. It's not the first time you've been here and you've also had your fair share of stupid injuries caused by falling off library ladders to tripping down staircases.

"Don't hello me missy, you were just here last week from a sprained ankle and now this?!" she exclaimed motioning towards your arm still in a pseudo sling with a three brunch stuck to it as a splint.

"More or less," you answered shrugging which made you wince in pain from the sudden jolt from your arm.

Miss Felms shook her head, "It's definitely dislocated. What happened this time?" she asked while motioning you to sit on the patient bed. "And the both of you? What brings you here?" she asked Caelum and Kieran who were standing there just watching you.

"Don't mind them, just a couple of trouble makers. Will she be fixed in time?" mister Fulton asked in worry.

"She'll be fine, I'll pop it in place, however, it won't heal anytime soon. You'll need to keep it in a sling for a couple of weeks." miss Felms notified you. "She's a human, she won't be able to heal as fast," she added.

"Now will you tell me how you could possibly dislocate your arm?" miss Felms asked as she prepped your arm's position making the pain even more unbearable.

"I fell--ahh!" you yelled as she pulled your arm back and popped your shoulder in place. Massaging it slowly before pulling it, "Gah!" and positioning it for the sling. "You could warn me you know!" you shouted as she placed your arm on a sling.

"If I did then it'll be much more painful. Drink this." she gave you an elixir in a small bottle that was labeled "Healing potion". It was blue in hue that had swirls of white, and it tasted like barley.

You downed it in one gulp and soon the pain started to fade from your arm but it won't heal it, "Sucks to be human right now." you sighed and massaged your arm slightly.

Caelum suddenly appeared in front of you, "I truly am sorry Emilia." his head was bowed down and he avoided meeting your eyes. Kieran gave you an apologetic look as well. Hearing your scream earlier made them even more guilty than they already were.

You shook your head, "No, no. I told you, it was an accident." you emphasized since you weren't so sure who was listening. "I know you didn't mean to trip me in the woods, besides, I'm already clumsy as is so basically it's half my fault." you lied since you weren't the only people inside the infirmary and there were other students as well. They realized this and nodded their heads.

"But it was our fault you were in the woods in the first place, we know you just wanted to keep us from trouble," said Kieran finally grasping the situation and running along with it.

"So that's what happened." said miss Felms after grabbing the documents of Emilia containing every accident, broken bone, bruise, allergic reaction to potions, and sprains that accumulated from her clumsy and unsupervised endeavors. "That's another case of accidents recorded, please sign here." she gave you the paper and you signed the bottom, confirming that this indeed happened and you received medical attention.

"If your parents saw this, they'll throw a fit." said mister Fulton while shaking his head in disagreement.

"Then it's a good thing they won't then," you answered shrugging. "Besides, before I started attending the academy, they've witnessed their fair share of my unfortunate sequence of events that lead to my injuries. Happens all the time." you dismissed him, waving your hand.

"That isn't anything to boast about Emilia," said Caelum in a warning tone that made you a teensy weensy bit frightened.

"Yes sir," you replied with attention. "But it's not like I choose to get into accidents," you mumbled, pouting then realizing how you're acting before standing up and gaining your composure. "Anyways, we should hurry to the mess hall before they run out of food." and you went out hurriedly.
