Chapter Four: Flagsmaine

Heading down the road, I see an old car on the side of the road, maybe ten miles out of the town. I'm assuming the battery died, and they couldn't find a charging station, especially anywhere around here. Using my lightning magic, I try to be precise with my aim and charge the car while not frying the battery. Me being clumsy and not knowing what I'm doing, the car explodes and sends me flying a hundred feet back and slamming against a tree. I just laid there for a minute, feeling stupid for even trying to do that, I was wondering if the town had heard my mistake. My biggest concern was the fact that I just destroyed someone's car. What are the chances that it is owned by the Jōgi? Either way no matter what I need to move on, nothing I can do now and nobody will probably come back for it anyway.

Moving on, I realized I wasn't traveling as fast as I was before, and I was probably fatigued from being thrown into a tree. Sadly this ment I would need to rest soon, I would not want to face anyone while being fatigued. After a long run that was exhausting I came across a small well house, but it seems to need an ID to get in, and I definitely don't have one with a clearance level like that. But it wouldn't hurt to drive to use brute force to get in, would it. I broke into the well house and got some water and rested for a while before I continued on my journey, still fueled from my amazing breakfast that I had in the morning. Proceeding down the dirt road, I see a paved road. I see a path to somewhere with significance for the first time. I am now really starting my journey to overthrow the Jōgi and get revenge for my grandpa.

Going down the road I realized it lacked traffic which was odd because on the movies I watched there was so much traffic everyday you would get irritated at the sight of cars, but right now I'm walking hoping to see one even just in the distance. With determination to succeed I ran down that road for hours, at least two or three, and then I saw it. In the distance was one of the most beautiful cities I had ever seen. The worst part about it was that right now I was seeing it burnt and overthrown with chaos that had been caused by this tyranny. I am destined to fix this, I will be the one who finally turns the tides on the Jōgi and shows them that there are people in this world who can be stronger than them and that they are not the only power. People will be able to stand up and people will succeed in ruling this world the way it was meant to be ruled.

Entering the city, I begin to realize that everyone is suffering and nobody is happy. The guards are abusing the citizens for no reason and it is a terrible sight. So many live without homes and all I can see is chaos and destruction. The burning of the flames on the old buildings and hearing the crackles and pops melting in with the screaming of the citizens who aren't working and suffering for it. Anyone who goes against the government gets oppressed, but there are still people out there who believe change will come and that's why they oppose it.

Storming through the city using a basic invisibility spell that only works against people with no magic or weak magic I go past everyone without being noticed until all of a sudden up in a window I see him. A person in the window of a 7-story building staring me in the eyes, making it very obvious that he can see me. I stop and look at him and he keeps eye contact whilst raising my hand to wave. He waves and to my amazement he seems to be a normal civilian, not part of the government at all. But I'll have to go talk to him before I know anything for sure, anything could happen. I stare him dead in the eyes and teleport next to him with a brief introduction of "G'day kind sir." which he proceeds to not even flinch but simply asks, "Who might you be talking like that, and how do you know magic?"

I hesitate to respond but after a few seconds of delay I respond with a cocky, "My name is Mahō, and you are?" He takes a deep breath before launching me across the room with a powerful burst of lightning and wind magic combined. I at this point have been stunned, I don't know what to do, I didn't realize that I would come across anyone with such powerful magic so early on in my journey. Stumbling to my feet I tried to get a better reading of his magic power using a sensory skill that gramps taught me, to my surprise I sensed nothing. He must have some sort of concealment on his magic because that blast that hit me was way too strong to be from a glove, and he saw me.

I look up into his eyes and ask, "Who are you?". I notice the man starts to silent cast another spell by the magic gathering in his hand.

"Wait, are you part of the Jōgi?" I ask hurriedly before he has a chance to cast his spell, and then the magic stops.

Looking me dead in the eyes, he says, "You're not one of them? Then how could you possess enough strength to not die from that first blast?"

I changed my stance to be more relaxed but still ready to fight and then said, "No I'm not part of the Jōgi I hate them with everything that I have, they took everything from me."

The stranger, now relaxing as well, walked over to the corner and sat down on the ground, looking over with a hand gesture for me to sit. He started talking, "Are you part of the revolution?"

I sat down across from him and said, "No, but I intend on joining as soon as I am able to make proper contact with them."

The strange man sat there for around five minutes not saying anything just looking at me, I was beginning to get creeped out when he spoke again, "Where did you come from, I have never seen you in Flagsmaine before."

"I came here from the forest, I'm not from the city, now I have answered enough of your questions, at least tell me who you are."

The man with a scowl on his face shook his head, "What could be the harm, I'm Gray, and I'm part of the revolution, I can't give you an invitation as I have no trust for you, and I'm still not sure if you're part of the Jōgi or not, but I am here on a mission, so help me with it, and maybe I'll begin to trust you a little more."

I don't trust this man, Gray, what if he's just leading me into a trap, well I'm strong enough anyway that it wouldn't be an issue and I have no better way of building trust and joining the underground revolution against the Jōgi, so I guess I have no choice, "What's this mission I get to help you with, Gray."

Now smirking, Gray says, "We're going to kill the Duke of Flagsmaine."
