Who's that pokemon?

It was now afternoon, which was training time for Cinder and Storm. It had been a few hours since Korrina left for Pallet Town.

Cinder was currently playing with Gible on the training field, Storm was training the same regime they had organized yesterday at the moment, while his newly hatched dragon was glancing towards Storm training occasionally as he was spending time playing with the young boy, on his mouth was a bottle stock that contained a milk of sort, cooing and moaning in awe and delight from time to time as he watched his 'big brother' training while at the same time enjoying the drink he had with relish.

It was the milk produced by Miltank, Moomoo Milk. Cinder assumed that a pokemon like Gible would be carnivorous, which Nurse Joy had confirmed after he inquired, which posed a problem since he couldn't bring himself to feed Gible other pokemons. Fortunately, they were a few alternatives for pokemon that are carnivores besides eating meat, as there was the processed pokemon food made from fats and contained other ingredients of edible berries which most pokemon food had Sitrus Berries within them. Moomoo Milk is also another alternative, although that is mainly for newborn pokemon. With Nurse Joy's helpful advice, he bought pokemon food and a couple of Moomoo Milk from the Poke Mart, leaving him with a few couple pennies left within his pockets, he barely purchased enough of it to sustain Gible's appetite for a day or two.

Cinder was assured after seeing Gible enjoying them after he let the pokemon try it for the first time. With the nutrients of fats, vitamins and proteins which the chemical compounds in the food that are used to sustain Gible's body to function properly and maintain health, the dragon pokemon would be able to grow normally if they keep providing Gible with this, it would be a slow growth compared to other newborn who aren't dragons, but nevertheless normal, when overall compared to other infant dragons.

The only problem Cinder found with this was, it was too costly. Dragons have big appetites after all, and keeping up with the cost could be a problem if they won't found a way to earn money. The only solution he have, which Cinder had thought of, was battling other pokemon trainers to earn the enough income to be able to keep up, making him more determined to continue their journey on the road towards Pewter City tomorrow. Since on the way, they would need to pass Viridian Forest which had decent amount of trainers which he could challenge into a pokemon battle after running in to them, over a monetary bet.

A day is also enough time for him to put Gible in a pokeball. Since infant pokemon normally don't go into a pokeball, something about the stasis being detrimental to their early development. Baby pokemons should be kept out of a pokeball before they had grown at least a little bit. It was a fact that even researchers like Professor Oak recommended.

Cinder was afraid that Storm would be upset about how he was giving the newborn priority, but thankfully, Storm seemed to be quite understanding of it. The sheep pokemon himself also seemed to have quickly taken a shine to the new baby, which pleased Cinder greatly.

Since Cinder and Storm had no problems eating the free meals provided from the cafeteria in the Pokemon Center, Gible was given priority.

The rest of the day was with Storm training his Iron Tail, Double Team and Thunder Shock. While training his Electrical Terrain for a little bit. Cinder's day was spent most of the time playing with Gible, Storm joined after he was done training. The infant dragon was still stumbling around as it tried to walk, and was still vulnerable due to its young age.

Thankfully, despite the warning of Nurse Joy and Marcia when he called, the pokemon wasn't showing any of the aggressiveness dragon-types possessed. It was after all, still a newborn.

...

In the cafeteria, Cinder was with his pokemon and had eaten an early breakfast in order to be on the road as quickly as possible. But not before saying their final goodbye/thank you to the Nurse Joy before their departure. Since they were living first thing in the morning, it should take take them about two day to reach Pewter City, with the Nurse Joy estimating that they would arrive late at night the next day.

He spoke with his mother just before leaving with his pokemon, informing her that he was going to start his show on the road towards Pewter City.

Then, first stop; Viridian Forest, or as it was better known as, the haven of bug pokemon.

But first, he should first contain Gible within the confines of a pokeball.

"Gible." Cinder called out to the dragon who was walking with him to exit the pokemon center.

"Gib?" Gible looked up as he was called. Confusion on his face.

"I haven't asked you yet. Even though you hatched from the pokemon egg given to me by my father, I wanna hear your own opinion to what I have to say." Cinder said with all seriousness. He didn't want to force the pokemon, although the prospect of having a dragon, like Gible was exciting to say the least, he showed respect to pokemon as much as he respects his fellow human people. "Are you down with traveling with me and Storm on our journey? We are aiming to battle at a stadium where top notch trainers compete. If you come with us, you would be constantly battling. Although that would only be happening after you grew mature enough for me to allow and use you in a pokemon battle. I can help you grow strong much faster, and even teach you new moves along the way, I saw you are so hyped watching Storm and Riolu battle yesterday, if you come with us I'm sure you will become a very strong pokemon, I assure you." His face soften as he continued. "But if you don't want that, I know a certain professor who could take care of you daily at his ranch, you can have your own freedom and would never worry about battle-"

"Gible!"

At first, the newborn dragon was obedient enough to listen, but when he heared the latter part of Cinder's words, he cried out and whimpered as he began clutching Cinder's pants. Gible, although very young, realized what Cinder was trying to say, he was lowering his head time to time only looking up at Cinder with a few teardrops leaking form his eyes. "Gib! Gib! Gib!"

Cinder was surprised at Gible's reaction. What he didn't take note was, Gible's first parental figure as he had just hatched was Cinder since he was the first person who he made contact with, so hearing him say those words made the infant dragon thought Cinder was leaving him if he didn't want to battle and train, which the dragon didn't have much problem of, on the contrary, he was eager to do just that.

Realizing this, Cinder mentally smacked himself. Of course Gible would have such reaction, if it was him, he would also react the same way if his mother would suddenly say those words to him.

"Gible..." The boy allowed a soft tone of voice to escape his throat. "I'm just asking what you wanted to do, I'm not leaving you."

Gible looked at Cinder in the eyes, the dragon's expression was somewhat eased up now that he heard him say that. Gible nodded at his direction and he returned to smiling from sobbing. "Gible."

"Alright. I'll press this pokeball on your forehead, okay?" Cinder informed beforehand lest the dragon would be startled. "Don't resist it, after the successful indication of capture, I'll be releasing out after, alright?"

Gible nodded after a moment.

With that, Cinder smiled and fetched a pokeball from his belt. He expanded it and then shortly after tapped Gible gently on the forehead.

Cinder watched in great anticipation as Gible was sucked into the orb, however, he didn't expect the pokeball to roll around the ground after landing so intensely.

'Gible is struggling.' Cinder thought correctly, because after a second he had that thought the pokeball broke apart, just in time for Gible to appear looking around to eventually stop his gaze on Cinder. The dragon whimpered and cried loudly as he jumped on his direction to hug the young boy's leg.

"Giiiiiibleee!!!"

"Gible..." Cinder wore a bitter smile seeing the destroyed pokeball, he had just informed the pokemon before catching him, was it so scared of him leaving it behind that it struggled? Cinder was feeling content Gible held so much importance to him, but he really need to go and travel now.

He knelt down, crouching to meet Gible right in the eyes. "Didn't I made myself clear, Gible? I would be catching you so that we are going to travel together. Don't resist, okay?"

Gible kept whimpering and crying with the cover of his pants, but with a few words of consolation that he wasn't leaving, and a few pats on the back. Gible finally nodded.

"Alright, dont resist okay?" Fetching another pokeball, Cinder once again gently tapped Gible's head with the orb.

*Pang!*

Which, not even a second later, much faster than the first try, Gible broke it and became a crying mess as it jumped to hug Cinder on the leg.

Cinder looked up at the sky. 'Another pokeball...' They were already tight on budget, yet two of his originally five pokeballs became broken. If this continues, Cinder was afraid all of it would be destroyed before he could successfully convince the baby pokemon.

'Sigh...'

...

Cinder had left the city lanes, and was trudging along the grassy path that led to Viridian Forest, one that ran parallel to a thin stream connecting Viridian City to Ecruteak City in the Johto Region. It was much later in the morning that they began their journey than planned, because of a certain pokemon who had Cinder convince and console before being able to catch it with the third pokemon of his five, now he only have two remaining pokeball with him. Cinder was bitter, but had no one to vent it to.

He had Storm and Gible out of his pokeball the moment he set foot of the premises of Viridian Forest.

"This is it, Storm and Gible. It's going to take a while to get through the forest. I'm hoping we don't get lost." Cinder took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. He looked down to both his pokemon, Storm was determined and was feeling excited of the battles they will have in the forest, while Gible was a little nervous, but with Cinder's pants clenched on his hand, he was also as excited. "Shall we?"

With both pokemon nodding, the trio proceded to enter.

The path started out normally, with a few trees surrounding it. As the trio proceded farther and farther, the vegetation began to slowly but surely began to merge with the oath.

To enter Viridian Forest was like a child growing up. It was a gradual process, you usually wouldn't realise just hoe much the child has grown until it became nigh impossible to deny.

A few bushes rustled, and Cinder heared a loud sudden cry. It was likely a wild pokemon in the distance, but at this point Cinder and his team was too nervous in order for them to think straight.

Cinder jumped up with a startled cry, he jolted as he felt the startled Gible's claws clutching his pants which penetrated towards the skin of his leg. The infant bolted behind his legs, seemingly for security.

While Storm growled at the direction where the sound came from, getting himself ready for something to happen. Fortunately, after a moment, nothing came out of it. Cinder looked towards his starter and exchanged a few awkward chuckles.

They started continuing, walking just a little bit more faster this time, just enough for Gible to catch up with their pace.

After a few minutes of walking, Cinder looked up. Seeing the trees blocking out the sky, he began to look around as he and his team observed their surroundings. Bushes, grass and vegetation filled up the ground, to the point where it was practically made up of them.

The chirping, crying and growling of various okemon resounded around different areas in the forest. The sounds that which, quickly filled up their ears as they walked deeper.

Not too long ago they were walking the oath leading to Viridian.

Now, they were officially in it.

...

After around half an hour of walking, they encountered a few kinds of pokemon, the likes of which Cinder didn't pay much attention to. Like the Caterpie, Kakuna, Weedle, Metapod, a few a Pidgey, Oddish and Pikachu.

Although he was tempted to catch that Pikachu when they encountered it, he held himself in when he thought of his team disposition, which already had Storm as the electric-type, and considering the remaining pokeball he had left in his possession.

Cinder got his Storm train for a while when they stopped at a stream. He was filling the canteen he had with him with water, tagging along was Gible.

"By the way Gible, do you want to have a nickname like Storm?" He paused a but as he began filling his canteen to look down at Gible.

After a brief moment of pause, the Gible nodded.

Cinder already had a nickname picked out for him, just in case when they were still staying at the pokemon center.

"How about... Fafnir?"

Gible put a hand on his chin, as if pondering over the name for a brief moment.

Then he nodded.

Cinder grinned. "Good taste! It means the strongest of all. For you, it is the strongest of all dragons."

After hearing that, Gibl- Fafnir returned his enthusiasm by thrilling with delight.

They got back to Storm who was waiting for them. After a while, they continued on their walk.

Not too long after, Cinder and his two pokemon paused as they caught wind of some violent rustlingin the bushes nearby where they are.

Suddenly, something jumped out of a nearby bush and landed in front of the trio.

Cinder, Storm and the newbly dubbed Fafnir stopped on their tracks as they observed the new, small pokemon.

It was...
