House Levensyek

[Samina]

I stood on the steps of my family's home, it was raining and I was soaking wet.

"Yes, I understand... yes, understood... Good night," The holographic screen dissipated and I began climbing the steps of the Levensyek estate.

I couldn't go back to my apartment since the Bordrois would most likely apprehend me; but by staying here, I have immunity from them and an opportunity to hide from my parents as well. Only my grandparents reside here, my parents opted to stay at their estate in the Legislative District since it's closer to the Hall of Assembly. Besides, the less lectures and scolding the better; I don't want to deal with my father when he learns I caught the attention of the Bordrois. Knowing my grandparents however, they will get mad at first but ask questions and even joke about it, so I'm safe with them.

I reached the landing and took cover under the dome canopy, shielding beneath the imposing wooden doors of the main house. The door was made of the same wood as those in the Palace, however it differed in its construction. While the doors of the palace were inlaid with gold and crystals and sported the Imperial seal of House Levochtoch, ours were more modest and depicted scenes from the Creyaltver and displayed the seal of House Levensyek.

I knocked on the massive doors, hoping that someone would let me in. It was already early morning, though the light of Excelsior* had not come out yet.

"If no one opens the door, then I'll just have to stay at the guest house," I thought to myself, "Which means more running."

Thankfully, the doors opened and to my horror, my mother was standing there. Her face was laced with concern, anger, and fear.

"M-mother..."

She signaled me to enter and I obeyed. As I entered into the foyer, I saw my grandparents standing there, disappointment and concern lined their aging faces.

"You could've gotten yourself arrested or worse," My mother scolded.

We stopped infront my grandparents. They took one glance at me and sighed.

"Thank the Creator, you're alright," My grandmother took me in for a hug and I reciprocated.

"Your mother was worried sick, young lady," My grandfather announced, "And so were we, you should be glad your father does not know about this little adventure you had."

"One question, how did you guys know I was being chased by the Bordrois?" I asked.

"Thomas informed me, he said you had stolen a vital piece of information from Prince Dayos," mother paused, "Considering the fact that he's an elite member of the Imperis Bordrois and one of the deadliest, I sent out our own men to watch over you and deter anyone who would try to harm you."

"Not only that, I begged the High Menyott to send out some of the Acolytes to monitor your every move and whisk you away to safety should the need arise," Grandmother added.

"Thank you... so you know what I did... who I spoke with?" I asked.

They looked at each other and nodded.

"That girl, her name is Diana, correct?" Mother asked.

"Yes, she is."

"Does she have any birthmarks or any distinguishable features?"

I stepped back to think for a bit then remembered.

"She has a mark on her palm, I couldn't make out its shape since her connection's usually pretty bad," I replied.

"Does it look like a triangle or a diamond?"

"A triangle."

Mother stood there, her eyes wide in shock. Grandmother, likewise, was silent. Grandfather on the other hand had no idea what was going on, just like me.

"What's going on? Why're you guys so silent?"

"According to the texts of the Creyaltver..." Mother breathed shakily, "A girl born to House Levochtoch would be marked by the Creator, not much details were given as to what it would look like but the texts say, 'She who is marked shall be of primordial blood. She shall bear a son and he shall wear the Primordial Crown. To all who hear and read and speak; be warned for her mark shall not be visible to projections of light nor to the eyes of Devouring Chaos. For her mark shall signal their end and shall be their doom. Look! Behold! See with your mortal eyes, her mark shall separate her and you shall know her for she is the Creator's blessed one.'"

"So... you're saying Diana is this mythical girl that will bear a son and defeat Delvetere**?" Skepticism lined my eyes.

"I know you don't believe these kinds of things, Samina, but trust me. She's more important than you think. Not only to the Creyatholven but to everyone who lives and breathes," Mother replied.

"What do you want me to do then? It's not like I can take her away or hide her somewhere. The Empress knows where she is, and if we hide her somewhere it'd only be a matter of time before they find her again!"

"We're not asking you to hide her somewhere," Grandmother said, "We're asking you to protect her, to guide her, and be there for her."

"It's inevitable that she's brought back here to Luminaris Prime, hence you ought to be by her side. Teach her our ways, guide her, and most importantly you have to protect her. Levelia is different from Crusavia's free society; the nobles and minor royals would all want a piece of her."

"She's not some weakling, she knows how to act and defend herself!" I exclaimed.

They looked at me, stunned by my sudden outburst.

"I-I'm sorry for that, but she's... she's different, she's not a fragile doll."

"You still need to be by her side is all we're saying," Mother explained.

"Understood, sorry for my rash behavior."

My mother suddenly embraced me, followed by both my grandparents.

"It's okay, you're alright," Mother whispered in my ear.

The chaotic thoughts spiraling around in my head all calmed down. I was safe, but the future was still uncertain, and I could only hope that this peace would last forever.
