"Ugh..." she groaned softly and slowly opened her eyes, only to discover herself in a strange room. She suddenly sat up, her entire body exuding alertness—a professional hazard for a killer who must always be on guard for any danger.

"You're awake?" Emma Benson was sitting in a chair in front of the bed, holding a magazine. Seeing her awaken, she smiled and placed the book on the nightstand.

The woman in black was startled at first but relaxed somewhat as she recognized Emma's face.

"Was it... you who saved me?" She glanced down at the bandages on her upper left arm, then looked up at Emma.

Emma nodded, then stood and said, "Don't worry, the wound seems to be healing nicely. You don't have a fever, which suggests the wound isn't infected..."
