Warning: Violence
Chapter 16
The next day, Jamie had managed to bury the tumultuous events of the previous night deep within his mind, so deeply that even his formidable memory couldn't easily retrieve it. (In truth, he remembered it all too well, like a broken record stuck on repeat.)
Jamie strolled through the halls with a renewed sense of satisfaction as he made his way to meet Yoon. The smug expression on Yoon's face was impressive, but Jamie needed to ensure that every detail of the renovation met his expectations before showering him with praise.
When he stepped into his newly renovated room, Jamie's breath caught in his throat. The transformation was nothing short of extraordinary. What was once an unremarkable, drab space had been reimagined as a sleek, modern bachelor pad. The black-and-white curtains framed the large windows perfectly, the queen-size bed looked inviting, and the walk-in closet promised ample space for his belongings. It was as though Yoon had captured the essence of Jamie's previous life and brought it to life here.
Jamie's eyes sparkled with genuine delight as he turned to Yoon, a broad smile spreading across his face. "This is exactly what I envisioned. I'm thoroughly impressed," he declared, his voice filled with enthusiasm as he clapped his hands.
Yoon's cheeks flushed a deep pink at the praise, his eyes downcast in modesty. "T-Thank you, Young Master," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper.
Jamie extended his hand, a gesture of both appreciation and camaraderie. "The Kim family will reward you handsomely for your efforts. I look forward to working with you again in the future!"
Yoon took Jamie's hand in his, and they shook on it, the mutual respect between them evident in their firm grip and warm smiles.
Later that afternoon, Jamie was rushing through the hallways, his mind focused on getting to class on time. Just as he rounded a corner, a voice called out with a sneer.
"Oh, look who decided to show up—the lanky idiot."
Jamie turned to see a tall, raven-haired boy with a grin that reminded him of a sneering monkey. The boy's face was plastered with a smug, irritating expression, clearly relishing the opportunity to provoke him.
"Hey, pet, still missing your master?" the boy taunted, his tone dripping with mockery.
Jamie arched an eyebrow, his gaze cool and unflinching. "And from which zoo did you escape?" he retorted, his voice laced with disdain.
The boy's grin widened, clearly unfazed by Jamie's response.
Jamie looked at him with a mixture of irritation and amusement. "I'm calling you a boy because you clearly don't know what you're doing. Messing with someone of my stature? That's just pathetic."
The boy's face twisted in anger, but Jamie's words had hit their mark. The sneering grin faltered, replaced by a scowl.
"Dammit! He's really changed! I thought it was just a rumor
. A bunch of idiots groveling to Kim as if they actually care about him. Right, pet? Your family doesn't give a damn about you." The monkey sneered again, his grin morphing into a derisive laugh.
"Ugh, I still have class." Jamie sighed, frustration seeping through his voice. The constant bullying was getting under his skin. "Whatever you want from me, forget it. I'm not in the mood to deal with a monkey causing chaos in the city." Jamie pursed his lips, irritated by the three men surrounding him.
Dammit! Jamie Kim? Classic bullying? Are you kidding me?! He closed his eyes, fighting the urge to rub his temples as stress quickly turned into a throbbing headache. His irritation was mounting.
"You've got quite the mouth. Watch yourself, Kim."
"Back off, or I'll make you," Jamie threatened.
"Clench your teeth!"
The next thing Jamie knew, he was throwing a punch at the monkey's face. His body wasn't conditioned for fighting, so when his knuckles connected with the monkey's face, Jamie winced in pain himself.
The three men around him were stunned. Blood splattered across the monkey's face, and he glared at Jamie with such intense malice that Jamie braced himself for what was coming.
It happened in a blur. Blood was everywhere, and Jamie was relentlessly punching the last man still standing.
"You son of a bitch! If I see you again, I'll fucking end you. Got it?" Jamie growled, his teeth bared as he delivered the final blows.
"Use your fucking head! Nod, you bastard!" Jamie's fierce gaze seemed to penetrate the boy's very soul, and he heard a soft sob in response.
"Demon," Jamie smirked as the last man passed out.
His hands throbbed with pain, and he was grateful that the altercation had happened behind the gymnasium. He was running late, had taken a shortcut, and ended up ruining his class because of these assholes!
Sighing, he felt the sting of his bruises and the cuts on his face. But despite everything, Jamie was alive. He had won. He felt a sense of triumph.
Jamie pulled out his phone and called his bodyguard to clean up the mess.
When his bodyguard arrived and saw Jamie's fierce eyes, his shock was palpable. He gulped and, after a moment, made a call of his own.
Jamie, irritated and covered in dirt and blood, snapped when the guard (whom he recognized as the leader) bowed his head and awaited instructions.
"It's just a simple fight. Take them to the hospital and make sure I don't see their faces for months. Cancel my class. I'm going home."
"Yes, young master." Jamie rolled his eyes and got into the car. His bodyguard took the driver's seat in silence.
Jamie felt the guard's gaze and frowned when he met the eyes of the nameless guard.
"What is it?" Jamie asked coldly.
"N-Nothing, sir." The guard quickly looked back at the road.
"Speak up, or I'll make you," Jamie said, rolling his eyes. His lips hurt as much as the rest of his body.
"You fought them alone, sir..." The guard's voice was hesitant, but the implication was clear.
"What about it?" Jamie replied, bored.
"Your father will hear about this, sir," the guard added.
Jamie smirked, and the car fell into silence.
When they arrived, Jamie got out of the car and headed towards his room, deliberately ignoring the curious stares of the servants.
