Chapter 41: Penthouse

The ride was tense and quiet. I sniffled a little, doing my best to stop crying. Elliot kept his eyes on the road, casually ushering me to wherever he had in mind. I didn’t ask where we were going, but felt a sense of relief when I started seeing city lights.

He pulled into an underground garage attached to a high rise building. After parking and cutting the engine, he calmly folded himself out of the car and wrapped around to open my door. I scampered out, wiping my face with the sleeve of my oversized sweater.

When we were in the elevator on our way up, he finally spoke. “I haven’t been to Father’s penthouse in a long time, he mostly used it when entertaining guests from out of town. I’ve been meaning to visit the place, but everything has been so crazy, no?”
