Chapter 52: Commercial Property

After several rounds of congratulations and offers of support, Yujin and I made our way out of Gia’s studio to give her space to work on her project. Stepping onto the sidewalk, I felt a wave of relief at the feeling of being part of a family, even if the specifics were out of the ordinary. I placed a hand on my belly, thinking about all of the love and support the baby would have access to compared to what either of us had growing up.

I looked down the sidewalk with a confused expression. “Where’s Frankie? He's usually right outside.”

Yujin wrapped a loose arm over my shoulders, guiding me gently down the path. “I thought a walk might be nice, so I sent him back to the estate until we’re ready to head back. You up for it?”

I nodded, still looking around the neighborhood. The sun would be going down soon, and it wasn’t a particularly well maintained part of town. But I felt safe with my partner, and some alone time did sound fantastic.
