Josie stood in the bathroom, staring daggers at her reflection. She was close to hyperventilating and began pacing in front of the mirror like an animal in a cage. She kept looking down at her phone, rereading Molly’s text message so many times, she was sure she had it memorized verbatim.
‘I know I promised I wouldn’t contact you, but the rules are changing.’ Her mind raced faster than her feet. ‘You need to see me and you need to do it ASAP. You know where to find me.’
“I can do this.” She breathed as she stared down her reflection once more. “I can do this.”
She barely registered the sound of footsteps, pleasantly surprised to see Rakesh back in his human form. The fact that he was as naked as the day he was born didn’t really register to her either. The man stretched, let out a yawn, and kissed her hair.
“Yes, you can.” He said sleepily, his voice still hanging on to the last remnants of its gruffness. “Whatever it is, if anyone can do it, it’s you.”
