BLONDE

"Dear when did you get in", I heard Alphonso's voice as he brought me back from my thoughts.

"I've just been here for a couple of minutes", I said as I stood up to hug him.

"I've missed you so much", he said as he pulled back and inspected me.

"You look healthy", he said as he chuckled and we sat on the couch both looking at Immaculate.

"You do too, have you been eating?", I asked him.

"Yes I have", he said and he looked like he was eating not starving himself.

I made sure that they go the best service in the hospital. Why wouldn't they when I was married to the CEO of the hospital?

"Am glad Vincenzo told you to come over, is he treating you well?", Alphonso asked me.

"Yes he is", I said as I smiled.

I didn't know if I was being treated nice or not. When I had signed the contract I was only supposed to be his wife because he needed people to see him as a married man.

No one would take a bachelor serious in business if all they saw was him with another woman every time he was out in public.

I was a conservative girl that no one knew and I didn't have any scandal which made me the perfect fit because no one was going to google me.

We both wanted something from each other and no matter how disgusting the idea had sounded in my head it was the only way that I could be able to take care of Immaculate.

Vincenzo had made it very hard for me to say no because he painted out a picture of what a wicked person I would be if I said no.

I would be a selfish person if I would want to maintain my dignity by denying his offer because he wouldn't offer any help.

It didn't seem like I had a choice in the matter since he was the one who was calling the shots but he forgot the part where he was the bad guy.

"But you will be the bad person in all of this since you knew you could help her and didn't", I remember saying.

"I never claimed to be a good person love and the last time I checked she is your mother right?", he had asked and I didn't have anything else to say.

"Well that's good to hear", said Alphonso pulling me from my trance as he smiled.

I had told them that Vincenzo was someone I had known from the orphanage and had bumped into him in the hospital.

Since we had known each other for a long time he had decided to help me and we had somehow grown fond of each other so we started a relationship.

They had believed it of course because when you need help you will believe whatever you are told. Immaculate, however, didn't seem to buy my story but she didn't push it she just told me to make sure I marry for love.

If only it existed I would.

I never thought that love existed because that was not something that I ever thought about. The only thing that was always on my mind was money.

I always wanted to have a nice job where I would be able to buy everything that I needed. That wasn't too much to ask for right?

"How is she doing have the doctors noticed any changes?", I asked Alphonso who was also lost in thoughts.

"Yeah they removed some part of the lump and said she has to be sedated she just got out of surgery", he said.

"She can walk now and the pain on her back has reduced compared to when you were here the last week", he said smiling.

Finally, he was starting to have hope. There were times that he thought she was never going to make it. I could not blame the doctors for telling us that it wasn't every time that things worked out.

"Well that's great to hear she'll be good as new in no time", I said as I held his hand.

Both of us missed the happy Immaculate. I had missed her cooking and her stories. Every time I came to see her she was either too tired from chemo or the drugs that they were using on her.

If I could take all the pain that she felt I would have taken it was a shame that was not possible.

"I'll go get us some coffee do you need anything?", I asked Alphonso as I stood up.

"No am okay", he said.

"Okay ill be back in a few", I said as I left the room.

I always hated hospitals and the way they smelled always made it worse for me every time I was around. I felt like throwing up. There was a reason why I never wanted to be a doctor.

I bought the coffee and was ready to turn and leave when I remembered Vincenzo's office was on the same way so I decided to go and tell him thank- you.

I know he helped me because he was also getting something but that didn't change the fact that he was the reason Immaculate was doing okay.

I greeted his secretary and she loomed up at me like she was startled or something.

"Is everything okay Bethany"?", I asked her.

"Yeah, miss but he said he doesn't want to be disturbed ", she said offering me a smile.

"It's fine am not staying long I just wanted to tell him something ", I said as I opened the door of his office and knew what she meant when she said he was busy.

Vincenzo looked up the moment the door was opened and so did the blonde chick on his lap. I couldn't believe the audacity he had.

I wondered if other people at the hospital saw him with her. He was just out here embarrassing me.

"What are you doing here I thought we said we don't want to be disturbed ", the blonde girl said shouting at Bethany.

"Lower your voice when you talk to my wife and leave I don't want you here anymore ", Vincenzo said as he pushed her off his lap and I let if a sigh of relief when I realized he was fully clothed.

"Wife, since when are you married? ", the woman asked him confused.

"I don't think it's any of your business, I don't want to repeat myself leave ", he said to her getting annoyed.

She huffed as she took her purse and left.

"Don't wait up for me I'll go home myself ", I said as I left his office and I could hear him swearing.
