They Were Worse Than Strangers

Hisaki didn't immediately press Heisuke for answers regarding the young man. Both of them were so exhausted due to operating the beverage booth all day long.

With Shuuya's help, the couple headed home. They arrived at a quarter past nine.

As promised by Mrs. Saeki, she prepared meals for them, bowls of soba noodles with chicken slices garnished with spring onions. The middle-aged lady also added a poached egg each for them.

While Hisaki easily finished the entire bowl, Heisuke could barely do so. Mrs. Saeki just thought it was because her son got too tired. Only Hisaki knew it might not be because of that.

"You need to work tomorrow, right?" mentioned Hisaki when Heisuke walked her to the door, "Take a shower and then go to sleep. Let's count the profits tomorrow."

"Alright," answered Heisuke, his lips smiling faintly at her, "You too, try to sleep in. We're both exhausted today."

"Hehe, okay."
