The Distant Memory Came Haunting Back

"...saki! Hisaki! Wake up!"

"H-hah!"

Hisaki opened her eyes abruptly, gasping. Her body arched upward due to the shock.

In the brief moment, her gaze caught the sight of a worried Heisuke staring down at her. Lights and shadows were both imposed on his expression.

"H-heisuke?"

Hisaki panted, slightly out of breath. Blinking her eyes a few times, she slowly regained her senses, feeling how her back was soaked in sweat.

The faraway nightmare of the past separated from reality.

Exhaling a sigh of relief, Heisuke carefully brushed Hisaki's bangs away. He could feel how damp her forehead was. Strands of her hair stuck closely to her temple.

"You had a nightmare," pointed Heisuke gently, voice still imbued with concern.

Still caught in her stupor, Hisaki just let Heisuke dry her tears. She didn't realize that she cried in her sleep. Her heartbeat was still erratic.
