"The King thinks that I killed his second son. Mathieu was healthy until he married me. The King does not even like to see me," Charlotte anxiously said. She told Édouard it would be best if she didn't attend the ball.

"You trust me, right?" Édouard asked while he kept caressing her hand.

Charlotte nodded her head.

"Then, don't think about my father. Nothing will happen. You have full rights to be happy," Édouard said. He knew it was difficult for her. You could not remain prone to such talks in a man-dominating world.

Édouard argued with his father about Mathieu's death many times. But Christian never once believed him. Édouard was unable to understand his father till now. If Christian would say anything wrong to Charlotte, Édouard knew that there would be a heated argument between him and his father.
