The remaining truth [Bonus chapter]

Damien arrived at the palace in the noon and was flustered to see Édouard in his chamber. A smile appeared on his lips as he approached him.

Édouard was already on his feet and he extended his arms out. They shared a warm brotherly hug. As they withdrew, Damien asked him about Charlotte and also the work.

"Charlotte is well. She will see you in the evening and the work is done. Everything is well there," Édouard replied and they both settled on the couch.

"How are you?" Édouard asked. "Mother was looking for you in the morning, but you were not present in the palace. Where were you?" he inquired.

Damien didn't want to worry Édouard about his matter since tomorrow was an important day of his life. "I wanted to take some fresh air outside," he asserted, hiding the truth about where he had gone to.

"Are you lying to me?" Édouard's eyes squinted in suspicion.

"No. Why would I lie to you?" Damien muttered.
