A difficult battle

Rainard recounted the entire chain of events that had transpired in a single day, leading to his mother's discovery of his feelings for Tove. He described his initial hopes and expectations and how they had been dashed by his mother's disapproval.

As he finished his story, he let out a deep sigh and looked at Édouard, who appeared composed and relaxed, ready to offer guidance or support.

Rainard sought guidance from Édouard, asking, "What should I do, Your Grace?"

Édouard replied with a straightforward perspective, "Rainard, you made your feelings quite evident to your mother and everyone else around you. Don't you think it would have been wiser to first confide in Tove and then allow your mother to find out? The worst-case scenario would be Tove choosing to leave your side."

Rainard muttered in frustration, "Why does His Grace have to make it sound so daunting?"
