POV Vesuvius:

The dragon stood solely in the destroyed red desert littered with craters and dead bodies as all the undead collapsed after the dead dragon left.

'So much death and destruction.'

All that remained were the battered ranks of his allies and subordinates, their previously vibrant scales bent and seared, carrying the scars of the recent battle.

"You have all proven yourself to be worthy of my grace! I shall fulfill my promise and give you the power you seek. Prepare for it—once I recover I will start your transformations."

The loud dings of the system resounded in his head—his anticipation reaching its climax as he could already imagine the massive reward from the quest.
