Chapter 94: Defiance and consequence

Vincent POV

With every fiber of my soul, I love this woman. Now, no one could take her from me.

I wanted to know how we lost the connection, but I couldn't doubt the gift given to me. Even now, as she lay in my arms, that feeling we once shared was gone. But something much better took it's place.

  Love.

I swam in the warmth of its flow; it enveloped me in a way I didn't know was possible. That tiny hint of warmth I felt when I drank from her that night was just under the surface. This was a deep—never ending—river of delight. Even with this deep sense of betrayal lingering, I was truly happy.

She rolled out of the bed, insisting she needed to clean herself. Weird human needs baffled me at times. But she said she would risk an infection if she didn't relieve herself soon. I would have to adjust to human life in this new age. To be with her, it would be required.
