Felix continued with his studies and work. His living condition also improved because Joseph was by far a better person than his own brother Peter. He decided that he would ask Mercy to visit him there because he felt that it would seem disrespectful to bring a lady to the house of his friend's elder brother and the man in questionmay not only feel slighted but that he- Felix was ungrateful.

Mercy had acted strangely when he had told her of Gift's resolution not to take his rejection lying low but to fight and gain back what she felt was rightfully hers.
