The next day, Chinonso went to work leaving instructions that Gift should not go out.
Though she protested that she was not a baby but a full grown woman who could take care of herself, 'Am I not the one who came here from the village by myself? I could have got lost you know. You know how long a distance it is from thee village to this place. So why would going round to acclimatize myself with this environment cause me any harm?' she asked.
Still, Nonso refused. 'My heart will rest easy knowing that you are safe in the house. I shall try not to be long. When I get back, then we can go strolling. Only when I have shown you alot of places and all the possible route back to the house would I rest easy and allow you to go out and move around on your own. Do we have an understanding?' he asked.
Gift nodded.
Chinonso went off to work and Gift decided to stay home like she had promised him.
