An Unique State

The Following Day.

.

Upon leaving their dorms, all students walked to the lecture hall. A masked man in a black cloak stood out among them.

However, In contrast to the tranquil and distant aura he emitted, his heart was in turmoil.

' Sigh... As expected, it didn't work. '

This individual was none other than Ian.

He tried to learn Thought Reading last night by using himself as a target. But, it didn't work even after a few hours of practicing.

" Of course it isn't without benefits," muttered Ian.

Yesterday, His Mind somehow became Tranquil as he stared in the mirror. Maybe because of that- Every time someone looked at him. They would feel like they were looking at a calm sea without ripples.

Ian knew what this was - An Unique State.

There was a famous saying among Mind practitioners; That The Mind has Myriad States.

There are more states in the Mind than those involved in Mind cultivation; There was the legendary [Oblivion] state that was said to increase a person's natural aptitude or [Enlightenment] State sought by all Mind Practitioners.

Even Emotions and feelings were considered as States by some groups of people.

These States are temporary or permanent based on what kind of state it is and their effects. For now, due to some coincidences, Ian entered the Tranquil State. However, this isn't permanent and will go away the next moment he becomes agitated.

' Today is Monday ' Thought Ian.

If he didn't remember it wrong, then the History class would start from today.

Ian looked forward to this class; There are a lot of missing gaps in the History he knew, so maybe he can fill them right now.

After entering the Lecture hall, he didn't even bat an eye toward others and sat in an inconspicuous corner.

A few minutes later, His History lecturer, Medea Quade, walked into the classroom holding a leather book the size of an Old school monitor.

Ian's attention was immediately attracted to the book in her hands.

' What's that?... ' Thought Ian.

He recognized it as an Artifact Treasure, and an Ancient one at that, but he couldn't identify what age it belonged to based on its looks alone. Hence, he didn't continue to stare at it and shifted his attention towards the professor.

"For today's class, let's talk about History, but this isn't the boring History taught in Mortal Schools and colleges... It's the History of Mind practitioners. " said Professor Medea.

Her words drew the attention of the entire class. Under the curious stares of numerous students, she continued.

"In the central Realm, almost all the factions of the outer realm were founded around 1320AD to 1350AD. But do you know how long the Mind practitioners have been around? " Said, Professor Medea.

Hearing the question, one of the students stood up and answered, "A few thousand years? "

"Gasp!"

"What the F*ck!"

Some ignorant students gasped when they heard the students answer.

Several thousand years ago!? They can't even guess anything about that period.

However, the professor shook her head in disappointment.

"A few thousand years is a good number; However do you know- that the oldest Mind practitioner still living is going to celebrate his 6284th birthday this year end. " Said, Professor Medea.

" 6000 YEARS! "

" A person can even live so long? "

" I don't know, but he must be an unfathomable being to be able to live for so long "

The majority of the students are stunned to learn that there is a person who has been alive for over 6000 years. Even though most of them belonged to the Illustrious Secrecy clans or had an amazing background, this kind of information isn't something they can know... Until now.

The next moment they were excited at the prospect of living forever. They also want to live for a few thousand years, Like who doesn't?

Of course, Ian wasn't surprised. He even knew about a few old monsters that were living for more than 10,000 years.

Moreover, this is only considering Humans! The Lifespan and Age of some beings are beyond what humans could grasp.

" When did Mind Cultivation begin? Who are the founders of this unique power system? And are there beings even older, still living? "

" These are questions we don't know, but based on the information we obtained from the outer realm factions, their backers- namely the five realms and one zone has existed for millions or even billions of years. "

Most of the students became numb by now. They were all profligate sons and pampered daughters living without any care in the world. when they heard about a larger world that they have no idea of, they became stupefied, they felt their reality overturning.

' Hmm, typical nobodies spoiled by their parents...' Thought Ian, But the next he thought about something else that made him confused.

Ian began to question whether these students truly belonged to the Secrecy clans. based on what he knew most of the Descendents of Secrecy clans were shrewd and cunning characters with strengths off the charts.

He continued staring at them for a moment, then diverted his gaze away from these good-for-nothings and looked at Professor Medea.

When the professor realized that the students couldn't take any more information, she called a halt to the class.

" That's all for today's class everyone can leave, " Said Professor Medea.

The class was over earlier than usual. However, the students didn't feel any joy- only regret.

This was so interesting, They wanted to hear more but... alas!

They all left the class unwillingly.

Nonetheless, there are still people in the class, specifically one student.

" It's you again? Do you want to ask some questions? " Asked the professor; her gaze fixed on the only remaining student in the class.

The student- Ian didn't care to reply. Not because he was disrespectful, but ... he was drawn to the artifact on the table.

"... What is this Artifact? Perhaps I should call it a Relic, given its age," Ian said, closely inspecting the artifact.

" Hmm, the smell of iron and sulphur... " Muttered Ian.

When Ian looked at this artifact, He felt it was familiar, but didn't know why though. Furthermore, he felt a surge of disgust in his heart while staring at this Relic.

When the professor realized that the student was not responding to her, her face became cold.

' Ugh... I shouldn't have acted on impulse, ' Thought Ian, while feeling a chill surrounding his body.

Ian felt afraid, he wanted to run from here right away. No matter how he looked at it, his Actions felt like courting death, Ian wanted to slap himself; he would be in serious trouble if this Professor flared up at him.
