End of Battle

The Marines were well coordinated and had tactics to rely on against the single ship but it was no good once a weakness to their formation had been taken advantage of.

Each cannon aimed by Micah had become more and more precise as he maximised the damage to the enemy ships.

The more effective the attacks were, the less trouble the ship he and others were in would face.

The Marines tried their best to adjust their formation into a more advantageous position once again but it was much too difficult to do since they had been so far apart circling around the wreckage of the previous destroyed ship that Pixel and others had stolen.

Many ships were reduced to few as the Minks slowly adjusted to their enemies movements at sea exploiting various weaknesses in the formation before they could readjust it into a more advantageous position.

Pixel was panting a little as she was covered in Electro sparks that flickered all around her body. "Ha.. ha.."

It was becoming clear that her previous battles and usage of Electro had started to take a physical tole on her.

She could feel her energy draining away the more she fought on without any time to replenish her energy with food or rest.

Meanwhile Captain Fry was looking from further away at the depleting numbers of his ships and had a look of visible concern on his face.

He was faced with a very difficult decision that he would have to make if he wanted to take a few risks and make a few more sacrifices for the success of his mission or he could give up.

There was glory at the end of it no matter how much was lost so long as he came out successful but the rewards that would be given for it would be far less than what he would be risking.

If he gave up then he would have his reputation damaged and he would be known as a failure after being unable to capture the culprits behind the attacks on the island.

During his time pursuing the Minks, he did get a call on his Sea Snail telling him that several dead and injured Minks had been discovered and captured on the island so it was not a complete failure.

The underworld criminals and Minks that Pixel and others had dealt with that were living or dead had become suspected of being involved after various Marines were able to safely arrive at the location where everything took place.

The thunderclouds cleared allowing them to finally gain entry so they called Captain Fry to give an update on the situation.

Since they had someone to pin the blame on and to use to cover up whatever other failures had taken place, Captain Fry had thought to himself. 'I cannot handle such a group. This will be my loss if this continues.'

It was not that he was too cowardly to try to take in more criminals but it was that the opponent was much to tricky to deal with.

Once he thought he was being careful enough and was doing everything possible to hold the advantage, the enemy slipped through a weak point and began to exploit it.

With a heavy heart, he sighed and raised the Sea Snail to his mouth. "Disengage the enemy and retreat. Try to ensure that everyone else can escape too."

He saw that a lot of the smaller boats belonging to those that escaped their ships had not been targeted by the enemy so he was a little relieved that his forces were not completely slaughtered.

It meant that the enemy was not as willing to kill those opposing them unless it was absolutely necessary.

If he continued to engage with the enemy then he would be pushing them into a situation where they may have to turn to using the lives of those who could not defend themselves at sea to their advantage which was something Captain Fry did not wish to see happen.

He took one final look towards the circling ship that was moving further away once he ordered the retreat. "Phew.."

Once the ships started to put some distance between the ship that had been stolen by Pixel, it had stopped pursuing them and remained still for some time until they were further away.

It them turned around and headed away drifting further away from the island and the Marines.

Captain Fry later returned to his base to go over the gains and losses as he began to write his reports ready to be submitted to headquarters. 'A large amount of property damage. Many civilian casualties. Fires started. Looting on the streets.

Anarchy on the streets as people fight among themselves during the chaos. Several dead and injured found that seem to have some connections to those involved. Those involved seem to be connected to the Mink Tribe and some of those found are from the same tribe.

While there have been some captured alive among those suspected to be connected to the attack, there have been some suspects that have evaded capture and stole a Marine Ship before causing heavy damage to our pursuing forces and ships.

In order to reduce the losses suffered and to be able to deal with the situation back on the island that needed more urgent attention, I ordered for my men to retreat which helped to restore order slowly back to the island.'

He began to add bits and pieces while removing some areas that would make him look irresponsible or incompetent to those above before making a call to the closest Marine base that could be updated on everything that had happened.

What had been missed during the whole event was that there was a group of criminals and Minks who had used their contacts and resources to hide out on the island until everything started to die down.

All they needed was to get in touch with their contacts and use a little bribery to help get themselves off the island without the good Marines knowing.

There were still corrupt Marines that had already taken their bribes so they could always be threatened if they refused to look the other way since they were partly responsible for everything that had happened.

If anyone came to know of that then their future was very much over.

All that was left was to put those they had captured to sleep so they could prepare moving them off the island too without them drawing the attention of anyone.

One or two ships may have been able to escape during the beginning due to them acting quickly and decisively so they would be able to make it back to their meeting destination where they could arrange the next stage of their plans but not everyone of them was able to get away once the Marines started to make their move.

It was later decided that they would hide inside barrels and wooden containers as they were placed onto some ships that had been waiting for them.
