Naive

"What the heck do you two think you are doing?"

David growled the moment he got the chance to open his mouth while taking care to keep his voice as low as possible. Even in this anger, he was well aware that one wrong move was enough to drag him into trouble.

"Stopping you from creating the chaos you are very fond of, and getting us caught."

Robin spoke, the moment David paused after firing the bullet he had been holding back until now.

He had still given a fitting reply to David, knowing that he was not going to stay quiet otherwise, and would keep babbling until all three of them got caught by Ryan and Nora. This was the last thing he wanted to happen, especially because the day had been going so well so far that all he wanted was to find a gunny bag from somewhere and give a good beating to Ryan for making Nora believe in his words, just like a weaver would have given the bag of cotton.

"Stopping me? Do you two still have control of your senses, or have you sold it for something in bargain, too? Because apparently, that girl standing there definitely has auctioned hers off; or else she would definitely have caught the lies of that sweet talker-"

"I know right! I really consider Nora as my sister, and at the same time I know that she should be respected as she is an Alpha and a candidate for the throne, but still, she is a little more naive than the acceptable amount. Otherwise, even a person with low vision would be able to recognise the malicious tint in the smile of that idiot."

Myron spoke in enthusiasm, not realising till the end that he had not only spoken those words in front of Robin, but David as well. Now, not just Nora, but he himself was in grave danger. No matter what used to go on between the Alpha families and how much hatred they held for each other in their hearts, but whenever it comes to someone from a lower category than theirs, then they all stood on the same stair and used to look down upon them.

He knew Robin was not like that, but David… David was famous for looking down on everyone else, and now he had volunteered to be put into this tight spot.

However, before he could have said anything to rectify whatever blunder that had already been created, both Robin and David both spoke in unison,

"Indeed!"

While he heard their voices, he heard one more voice coming from the back, which was apparently audible to them as well. The unidentified voice caused all three of them to turn around promptly, to find that Louis was also standing there.

Present day :

David was lost in his thoughts for a moment as the memories came flooding into his mind, which he was not ready for. He had never been ready to accept that whatever Nora had said to him to make him realise his mistake and turn him into a better person, was the reality of his life. Truly, the royalty which he had always been proud of was the reason he was helpless and on his knees today, and why the pain of heartbreak was killing him brutally.

He was ready… ready now, to accept everything- every word, every command she gave… ready to believe in anything or everything, whatever she wanted him to believe, his only condition was for her to wake up.

But this desperate plea was hindered midway, as everyone standing near him heard a sharp cry through the phone, followed by a loud thud that alarmed everyone standing there as they were all familiar with the fact that Valerie was pregnant.

"Al… Alpha… It can't happen. Myron… Nora… Ohh no…-"

"Valerie… Valerie, are you there? Can you hear me? Hello!! Hello, answer me-"

David became increasingly frantic, as the silence on the other end of the call persisted.

This girl who had appeared in his life out of the blue had not only taught him to love her, but had also taught him to love and care for everyone in the small family they had created. Even though he had never shown this to anyone apart from her, because only she was capable of reading him like a magazine, he did care. It was because of this that for a moment, he forgot everything, and took two steps forward. But before he could have gone any further, Henry spoke;

"Don't worry Alpha, I will go and check if everything is alright-"

Whatever words Henry wanted to say remained hanging in the air, as ten people rushed inside the hospital complex with the urgency of spilling some news they had been holding inside with great difficulty.

After leaving Nora in the Alpha house, Fredrick was not in the mood to speak to anyone, nor was he in the state where he could show his frustration in front of anyone. Or else, all his plans till now would go downhill within the fractions of a second and he would never allow himself to unravel enough to let that happen, at least not in this lifetime!

He drove directly to his house and entered the antechambers while throwing his stuff on the ground, right at the entrance itself- knowing that it would be enough to drag the attention of his wife, Nora's mother.

Yes! Who said that if he could not punish Nora right now, then he had to keep this anger bottle up inside his heart until everything started to work in his favour and according to his plan?

He could just as easily vent that anger out on his wife, after all, keeping something bottled up inside our hearts is not good for one's health. And his health as an Alpha was extremely precious for him, and his entire pack.

And with this thought, he entered the main room. Seeing Helen entering his room, as expected, he gestured her to close the door behind and come closer to him.
