Regret

Feelings are something we are all familiar with, in the sense that they bother us by staying inside our hearts; but emotions are the same feelings which have been successful in convincing our brain that they are important for the world to be known.

And regret was one of these emotions, who had been completely absent from David's life till today.

Because the moment he stepped foot inside and saw Nora's face taking on a blue hue, he knew he regretted his previous decision whole- heartedly.

Driven by this regret, he sprinted towards her at that very moment, and wrapped her in his strong arms before anyone else could reach her.

The tiny stature of this girl fit perfectly into the circumference of his arms and her head landed on his chest, where he knew a vital organ was supposed to be present.

But today… today that vital organ, known far and wide by the name of a 'heart', probably wanted to go on a strike.

It was beating with the fastest pace that anyone had ever heard of, and while he was busy sorting out his emotions of guilt, regret and something vaguely unclear, it wildly changed its patterns of heartbeat as David thought about where he was supposed to take Nora now.

This is when he heard,

"Hey! How dare you snatch Nora from my hands-"

"She isn't an object to be snatched from you, first!

And secondly, I never snatched her from you, she is and will always be my and only my enemy!

Because while I am not familiar with what you think about your eligibility for the throne, Ryan… I am very much aware of your capabilities and strength! So here's some friendly advice from my side: stay away from me, as far and as frequently as you can!"

He was about to step out of the dungeon after putting Ryan in his place, without noticing a silent chuckle barely escaping from Louis' mouth on this short roast session of Ryan, and cold glares from his own brother.

He was well on his way forward, until Robin spoke up, stepping in his path.

"If you are done with your Royal drama and eligibility calculator, then give her back to me. I am not snatching your enemy from you, as I am well aware of her capabilities and happen to know that she is not only a great competitor for you, but is much better than you.

Instead, I am taking my friend with me, as I can not leave her with a person who is responsible for this state of hers. And yes, be prepared with an answer about this whole drama, in tomorrow's grudge session-"

Just a few bewildered words managed to escape from David's mouth,

"Robin! You are my brother! How could you even think about challenging me in the Arena -"

"No! Robin is not challenging you, I will be the one to challenge you in the Arena! Now let's go, Robin."

Louis spoke, interrupting David as he patted Robin's shoulder and reminded him that they were supposed to leave before the required time passed and the doors to the dungeon locked automatically.

And with this, Robin finally took Nora from David's arms and walked out of the room.

The rest of the route was traversed with Louis continuously pulling his hair out because of the challenge he had placed in front of David. He knew he was not allowed to engage in any fights in the first place, due to a reason he could not even mention in front of anyone. And secondly, the moment he stepped into the Arena, he would have to announce the reason for this fight first, and boom! Everything would be blown away.

But on the contrary, Robin was extremely quiet on the whole way back; and so was Myron. None of them had noticed that Valerie had arrived there as well and was following all of them, until they finally reached in front of Louis' Alpha Palace. Robin gently placed Nora on the couch, saying;

"Someone bring me some Ox-blood broth for -"

"Alpha, I have already prepared it- here."

Valerie spoke, finally getting everyone's attention on herself. Till this point, no one had even noticed her entering the palace, going back to the kitchens and bringing the bowl.

"Thank you."

Robin spoke while he grabbed the bowl from her hands and managed to pour two spoons of the broth in Nora's mouth.

And when everyone was finally waiting for her to open her eyes, while offering prayers to the Moon Goddess in their minds, Robin began to speak out loud, out of nowhere.

Till this fateful day, I had only heard about a Damsel in distress, but I had never assumed that I am going to meet a 'Nora in perpetual distress', in my life.

Oh c'mon, Nora! It's been only three days since I have known you, and in these three days, you have managed to get yourself in trouble almost six times! Like how is it possible to get into trouble at least twice a day -"

"Huh, Robin! Are you saying she has been in trouble six times already? Then why do I only know about five?"

Louis' voice brought Robin back to reality, along with the sinking realisation of the blunder he had created.

Robin's pov:

Arghhh!! Gosh, Moon Goddess!! Literally, what have you gotten me into? Like was it not enough to have a unique family like mine, where everything is twisted… that you made me be friends with the daughter of the enemy?!

Not just the daughter of the enemy, in fact, but a complete package deal who is somehow prone to getting herself caught up in the greatest dangers that have ever been designed, or introduced in the history of this school.

Like how is it possible to get into trouble at least twice a day -

Shit! Did I just say my last strings of thoughts out loud!?

Great, till now, I had been thinking that she is the greatest idiot I could ever meet. Now, I know that actually, I am the greatest idiot one can ever meet!
