Chapter 9_ what about me

"Thank you very much, sir. For driving me home" Laura said to Jason.

"No need. just go inside and rest" Jason replied.

"Okay, sir. Thank you very much" Laura said before trying to unfasten her seat belt but, it was not coming off. She struggled with it for a while before Jason bent over to her to help her out. Laura was shocked at the sudden closeness. She stared at his face and every little thing about his appearance. Her heart started beating loudly in her chest.

"It's done, " Jason said while raising his head. Their eyes meant it was as if he was being drawn in them. Their face was so close that they can feel each other breath. Laura was confused and immediately opened the door to get out.

"See.. see you tomorrow sir." She managed to say before running into her house. Jason was still confused about just happened.

"Why I'm I feeling this way? Why do I feel like holding her in my arms? Well her eyes are very beautiful I give her that and her lips. Wait .. what I'm I thinking about? I have to get this thought out of my head" Jason you get yourself together" He said to himself a few times before he managed to compose himself. And he drove back home.

When Laura got into the house, she ran straight to her room. Her face was red like a tomato.

"What just happened? Laura you need to get yourself together he's your boss. This can't be happening. I need to stop dreaming about him every night. But, how I'm I going to it? Ahh Laura think" she said while hitting her head. She lay on the bed facing the ceilings. She tried to think of something but nothing came up and later fell asleep.

"Laura you mean Larry tried to take advantage of you? I can't believe he would do something like that. why didn't you call me " Kate asked feeling sorry for her friend after hearing what Laura told her the next day at work.

"Oh I lost my phone " Laura replied.

"Then how did you get home "

"Well, it's a long story," Laura said not wanting her to find out about Jason.

"I want to hear the story" Kate tried to press for more information when the phone suddenly rang.

"Hello," Laura said picking up the call. "Okay sir, I'll be right there " Laura got up and went to Jason's office.

"You called sir". Laura said.

"Yes. That bag is for you" he said pointing to a bag on the table.

Laura took the bag and when she looks inside she saw a new phone. Laura was surprised. She wondered why he bought her a new phone.

" But sir, you don't have to "

"I insist. As my secretary, you must have a phone so I can call you. You can go and get ready for the meeting " he said casually and got to his work.

Laura went back to her office. The moment she got inside Kate ran up to her giving Laura her phone.

"There's a call for you from the hospital," Kate said.

"Why would the hospital call me" Laura wondered. She took the phone and answer the call.

"Hello this is Laura speaking "

"I'm calling from Louis Hospital. Please your brother got into an accident and he told us to call this number. Please we need you to come to the hospital". A lady's voice sounded from the phone.

"Okay I will be on my way now" Laura cut the call and gave the phone to Kate before going to her desk to get her things.

"Laura what happened, " Kate asked her.

"I'm going to the hospital Noel got into an accident and he's at the hospital," Laura said.

"Oh, my goodness Laura. Please go I will take care of things here" Kate said.

"Okay thank you very much," Laura said before going out the door.

A few minutes later Kate walked into Jason's office holding some files.

"

"Please tell Laura that we are leaving for the meeting now. Jason said.

"Sorry sir, I'll be the one going with you to the meeting. Kate answer.

"And why is that? Where's Laura" Jason asked.

"She had to leave for some family emergencies" Kate replied.

"What happened and why did she not tell me anything" Jason was surprised.

"Her brother got into an accident. He's in the hospital now " Kate said.

"Jason wondered how she is feeling he just hope everything was well.

"You know what to do right?" Jason asked her.

"Yes sir". Kate replied.

"Ok let's go," he said while getting up from the chair.

"Please, which ward is Noel Jones in," Laura asked the receptionist at the hospital.

"He's inward Four. Please go this way and turn left " the receptionist said directing her.

"Okay thank you"

When she entered the room she saw Noel lying on the bed with bandages on his head. She sat down beside him.

"Hey," Noel said. when he was her.

"What happened," Laura said almost in tears.

"It's nothing. Some guys got into a fight at the bar. I tried to help that's when this happened" Noel explained.

"And now you're in the hospital," Laura said.

"Well, the doctor said I can go home later which means it's not serious. And very soon we'll be leaving this city anyway" Noel said the last part mostly to himself. But Laura heard him.

"What do you mean by that," Laura asked him.

"I got a job at zenith industry and they are giving free accommodation for employees. I'll be resuming work next week. That means we are leaving in two days I wanted to tell you two days ago but, you did not come back after the party" Noel said.

"But that will be a four-hour drive from here. What about my work and school" Laura asked him.

"I don't know we will figure something out".

"I'm not leaving," Laura said.

"I'm not leaving you here alone you know that right" Noel tried to convince her.

"I will stay at Kate's place. After my IT I will come over please.." Laura pleaded.

"You are coming with me and that's final.

Laura got angry and left the hospital.

When Laura got back to the office she was crying. She could not believe her brother did that to her. She can't leave her life behind and everything she works for over the past year.

Kate was surprised to see her crying. "What happened? I thought you will stay back at the hospital to take care of Noel " Kate asked.

"I don't think he needs help with anything," Laura said wiping her tears.

"Tell me what happened" Kate was curious to know everything because she knew that Laura and her brother were close. But seeing her crying now means they got into a fight.

Laura explained everything to her. Kate was surprised with what she heard she had not expected it to be this serious.

"No, you can't leave what about your school and me? What about me? No, You can't leave me" Kate said. "Don't worry I will talk to him to let you stay with me at least for the next three months until we're done with our IT" Kate added wiping the remaining tear from Laura's face.

"Ok come here" Kate pulled Laura to a hug.

"I love you so much," Laura said. "And I love you too best friend just leave everything to me" Kate comforted her.

All this while Jason was at the door listening to everything. He took out his phone to make a call.

"Hello? I need you to do something " Jason said.
