Chapter 18 Robot

"Who is playing music? Is there someone else in the house?" Laura wondered to herself. When she got to the room, she stood in front of the door debating on what to do. Finally, Laura decided to check it out. Opening the door a little Laura peeped inside, she was surprised by who she saw.

"Jason? He sings?" Then she immediately recalls Kate telling her a few weeks ago about him being a top singer a few years back.

She was hypnotized by his melodious voice. She did not even know when she entered the room forgetting that she was supposed to be running away from him.

Laura felt as though she was in a concert watching the best performance. The way he played the guitar strings was on point and his voice was out of this world.

But there was something about the way he sings that mesmerized Laura. She was not even aware when the song have come to an end. She was pulled back to reality when she heard Jason's voice.

"Are you going to keep standing there all night?" Jason asked her as it was already passed 8 pm.

"Oh, I think.. uhh" Laura was perplexed.

"You sing beautifully by the way" she complimented him.

"Thanks " Jason replied putting down the guitar at the side.

"Can .. can you teach me how to play? The guitar I mean" Laura has always longed to learn how to play the guitar, it's her favorite instrument. Now that the opportunity have presented itself she was not going to let it slip away.

Jason stood up and walk to her will a devilish smirk on his face.

"Aren't you forgetting something pretty face?"

"Me? No nothing " Laura replied wondering what she must have forgotten.

Then Jason brought his face to her ear.

"I thought you were supposed to be running away from him" The moment Laura heard him her whole body tensed up.

"Oh my God, how come I forgot about that ?" A cold sweat broke out on Laura's face. "Wait? If he wanted to kill he could have done it long ago. The fact that I'm still alive means he won't do anything to me right?" After taking a few breaths Laura spoke up.

"No, I've not forgotten" she replied holding his gaze.

"Then why are you still here?"

"To learn how to play the guitar of course?"

"Are you sure about this "

"Yes," Laura replied firmly.

"And what will I get in return?"

"How about my silence? You teach me and I won't breath a word about it to anyone".

"I can see you know how to negotiate huh " Jason chuckled to himself. He never knew Laura had a stubborn side.

"Okay, I teach you but, I want something else".

"What?" Laura asked him wondering what else he wants that is more important than her silence.

"I will let you know when the time is right," Jason said teasingly in her ear. "Come let's have dinner".

Laura ran after him.

"But Mr Hughes why don't we start the lessons now?"

" Not today another time. And please you can call me by my name when we are at home "

"Okay, Mr. Hughes.. I mean jas... Jason ". She corrected herself abruptly when she saw Jason glaring at her.

They both walked into the kitchen and Jason picked up the apron to tie it around himself then fold up his sleeves to his elbows. Laura was by the side swallowing her saliva and staring at him.

"Is he doing this on purpose? How can he be so elegant just folding his sleeves? Can't he see there's a lady over here? Huh if I didn't know any better I would have thought he was trying to seduce me" Laura just kept mumbling to herself.

"Help me wash the tomatoes instead of just standing there like a robot "

"Huh? What? Okay," she walked to the sink and pick them up, and started washing them. Then was when she recalled what he said.

"Wait, did you call me a robot?"

"Yes, is there anything wrong with it?"

"Yes, how can you call a human being a robot?"

"Why not, at times you behave like one always in a daze "

"Me? See who is talking when he's the perfect robot. I think one day they will make a handsome robot after him " Laura complained to herself when venting her frustration on the tomatoes.

"You know I can hear you right?"

"So what?" She replied putting them back on the table before taking a knife to cut them. Jason couldn't help but wondered if she has ever stepped into a kitchen before.

"Why don't you give me the knife and you can go and sit over there," he said pointing to a stool, or rather go to your room and freshen up when I'm done I will let you know," he said politely to her.

Laura was happy with his second suggestion even though she wants to help him out but remembering him insulting her just pissed her off. She drops the knife while spouting before leaving.

"she's so cute" Jason smiled to himself.

Getting to the room Laura took off her clothes and got into the shower. She was able to calm down when the water washed over her. She sighed softly before taking the sponge.

A few minutes later she walked out of the bathroom with a towel tied tightly around her body. When she was done she put on her pajamas pink shorts and top before walking out with her phone and dialing her brother's number. The line rang a few times but didn't pick up.

"Is he asleep already? She wondered. " Maybe he's already asleep I will call him tomorrow " With that she put the phone back into her pocket with a grumpy face.

" Why is your face like that?"

"Jeez.. stop snicking up on me" Laura complained.

"I wasn't, it was you who came here remember?"

"What?" Laura confusedly looked around and realized she was already at the dining table.

"I'm sorry" she apologized.

"It's nothing. Now sit down and eat something"

"Okay, thanks ". She said sitting down on the chair opposite him.
