CHAPTER Eleven

  The snow bit at my bare feet, but I did my best to ignore it. I'd fashioned some loose clothes out of a sheet so I wasn't completely bare, but I wasn't too far off from it. I dragged the hem across the powdery substance to erase my trail the best I could.

  I could die from exposure if out here for too long. But, how could I turn down the chance to start marking names off my list?

  I was worried about what Javier would do to me when caught, but the chance was too great. Besides, this gave me the perfect opportunity to scout around.

  That... had been the thought. But in reality? It was too cold to even think straight. I hadn't really paid attention to how cold this place was when I'd first been brought here but it was nothing like the forests with their sun kissed meadows.
