Chapter Four

  Subtitle: My Contract Marriage

  Written by : Marvy Hyacinth

  "Alexa?"

  Someone called gently.

She looked at the person she's been staring at since.

It was Jace... He was awake now. Alexa quickly wiped her tears away and placed a smile on her face.

"Hey boy... How was your nap?"

  Alexa asked softly.

"It was very great, I feel so rejuvenated and energized"

Jace answered, sat up and stretched his body.

"I'm happy you feel good after your sleep hunny"

Alexa said with a smile, held Jace's face, scooted over and kissed his hair, then his forehead.

Jace smiled genuinely in response. Alexa melted on seeing his angelic smile. That smile meant everything to her, though it was not as often as before he was told to quit school and when their parents died, it was still there and it warmed Alexa's insides every single time he lit up.

  "You were crying"

Jace pointed out gently while staring deep into Alexa's brown eyes with his own.

As siblings, they didn't really look alike, but three things were sure... They had the same light brown pair of eyes, Had the same silky brown hair and Shared the same oval, heart shaped lip.

  "Ughm... No."

  Alexa replied.

"I saw tears in your eyes, when you touched my hair, I woke up. I know you didn't notice, but I saw pearly tears drop from your eye. You were staring hard at my chest and tears slid down your eye"

  Jace said.

  "Jace..."

Alexa started, but Jace interrupted her.

"Don't lie to me Alexa. We're siblings, since mom and dad died, you became the only part of my life left. Am I a burden too much for you?"

  Jace asked Alexa.

"Nooo! How could you even think that? How could you be a burden for me? As you rightfully pointed out, we're family!"

  Alexa said.

"But you only started crying when you stared at my chest. Wait... Am I gonna die?"

"No Jace! No. You're not gonna die. You're gonna stay alive, be alive, watch me make money, pay for your surgery and turn our lives around"

Alexa said and smiled warmly at him.

"Awww..." Jace awed. "Then why were you crying?"

"I was just thinking about stuff." Alexa said.

"I resigned from work today" She sighed.

  "What?! You resigned?"

  Jace gasped.

  "Yes, I did"

  Alexa reconfirmed.

  "Why?"

"I wasn't just feeling it anymore. I've worked there since mom and dad died. I want to experience something new"

  Alexa lied.

Wait, she wasn't actually lying. That was also part of the reasons, its not like she could tell Jace that Judy had harassed her several times.

"Oh... So where are you gonna work now?"

  Jace asked concerned.

"To be honest, I don't know. I resigned without having any other thing in mind"

"Its gonna be tough to get another job... Considering this is where we live"

  Jace spoke.

"Yes. I know, but I'm gonna do something quick about getting a new job."

"Its OK. I'm just happy you're gonna stay with me at home for a few days. I've missed playing board games with you Lexie"

  Jace said excited.

"I'm looking forward to another of our great moments together too, Jace"

Alexa said and pulled her little brother into a warm hug.

  ??-??

Meanwhile, as this happy moment was going on in Alexa's house, someone was not at rest.

The guy at the restaurant was so disturbed, thinking he was the one who made Alexa quit her job.

  ... Mr. Green's POV ...

I drove home very angry at myself.

  My conscience was pricking me.

  'You pushed her to quit'

"No! I didn't. After all, she had drafted the letter since Monday"

'But she never submitted it till today'

"Wait... What did you expect me to do? Just let her walk away, swallow my pride and called on another waitress?"

  'Exactly!'

  "Hey dude! Shut up"

  'You're shutting me up?'

  "Hell yeah"

  'Then you're shutting up too'

  "And why would I?"

'Because I'm you, and you're me. Whatever you do, I bear the consequence too. And whatever I push you to do, you bear the consequence'

"Shut the fvck up you man who*e"

'Woah! You just called yourself a man who*e. I didn't see that coming'

  "Get tf out."

'No dude. I'm not gonna leave till you get the poor girl another job'

"How do you know she needs another job?"

  'Because I do'

*I'm gonna get out of this awkward convo one way or another*

  *

"Oh shit! How do I even find her when I don't know her?" I argued. I couldn't help someone I don't know right?

*You have a tracking agency in your company dude'

*my stupid... Well, wise subconsciousness tells me in a bored tone.

  "I'm still not helping"

'OK, then deal with me for the rest of your life'

... If there's one thing I hate about me, it's me being smart. Now half my smartness has been transferred to my subconsciousness. We share an equal 50% to 50% intelligence, which makes it hard for him to subject to me.

Except during work, I did well and that was the only time we didn't blab at each other. OK, practically... Me blab at him.

"Ugh! My mind's driving me crazy"

I yelled in my car and pulled over like a crazy baboon.

I hit the steering wheel several times and when I got tired, I called June.

  Who's she?

  Yes you guessed right.

She's ONE of my f*ck buddies.

I had a lot of them and plenty of girlfriends too, the figure would make you go crazy.

It didn't even ring for even 10 secs, she picked.

  ? "Hey baby"

  She said over the phone

  ? "June, I need you"

  I said

  ? "for what baby?"

She asked me and I knew that at this point, she was biting a side of her lip and winking with her boo*s pushed up and jiggling like my house keys.

I tried to play along with her.

  ? "the usual baby"

  ?"and what's the usual?"

She sluttily asked and I got pissed off here.

  ?"S*x June! S*x!"

I shouted over the phone and I could tell that abated her sluttiness a little.

? "you didn't have to shout at me Anderson"

she whimpered like a rain beaten dog.

  I scoffed.

  Who cares about this girl?

She's acting all needy just because of some s*x we're gonna have. Something I'll throw her out after I'm done.

  ? "Alright. Just come over"

  I toned down a bit.

  "I'll be there soon hunny"

  Hunny...

  Tsk! Funny human.

I quickly cut off the call, tucked in my phone back to its original position, started the car and swerved back to the road.
