I believed I had smothered that part of me, the one who hurt people and screwed around; how could I be so wrong I could deny it, try to convince her nothing happened, but how could I do when she had seen photos I didn’t remember half the night. “Not only did you cheat on me, but you are also back to using drugs Well, isn’t that just marvelous” the sarcasm dripped from her voice.
“Gracie, I am so sorry. I would never have done something like this to you if I was in my right mind,” I whimpered, feeling the tears build in my eyes because it killed me to know I was the reason for her hurting.
“Don’t try to use drink and drugs as an excuse, Ryland. You have broken my fucking heart and my trust. Out of all the people in my life, I thought you would be the last one to break me,” she cried.
