Sokayamas Lion City
Early Morning
Explorer's House
Walking on the cobblestone path of the Explorer's House lodging area, even though the sky was only just beginning to dawn, many explorers were already dressed and walking along the path.
Kane activated his Eagle Eye, observing the explorers passing by.
Since yesterday, Kane hadn't detected any golden magic power reactions among these explorers.
The explorers residing in the lodging area seemed to be beginners like Kane, as he had only seen four with silver magic power reactions. Most had copper magic power reactions, with the only difference being the size of their magic power groups.
Slowly arriving at the Explorer's House, the front desk was manned by a human girl Kane didn't recognize.
Is Adoma off today?
Thinking of these things, he headed to the second floor of the hall.
This was the place to check the dungeon distribution in the vicinity, accept commissions, and of course, find teammates.
On the wall in front was a huge map of dungeon distribution, with the dungeon levels marked in gold, silver, and copper.
Below the map, scattered explorers either stood silently or discussed the distribution map.
Kane approached, carefully examining the distribution map on the wall.
After observing for a while, he roughly understood the general situation here.
There were three copper dungeons around Sokayamas, one marked in green, one silver dungeon, and the only golden dungeon was marked in red.
According to the explanation in the "Explorer's Professional Guide," a dungeon marked in red indicates a high restriction, high difficulty, and high mortality rate, thus not recommended for exploration.
Meanwhile, the green-marked copper dungeon is suitable for first-time explorers, a dungeon that can be easily cleared by an explorer squad with a certain degree of combat power.
After understanding the surrounding dungeons, Kane approached the commission board area.
Three bulletin boards for commission postings were pinned to the wall, and they were also segmented into gold, silver, and copper colors to distinguish the difficulty levels of the commissions.
Kane didn't immediately check the copper commissions suited for his level, but rather went to the side to see the golden commissions, to gain some insights.
Commission Task: One Amusing Cake from the Fairy Tale Castle
Task Reward: 10,000 gold, 1 piece of golden equipment
Commissioner: Princess Sophia of Sokayamas
"Are you curious about what this Amusing Cake from the Fairy Tale Castle is?" An anthropomorphic figure also looking at the golden commission beside Kane spoke.
Kane turned his head at the sound; the speaker was a tall anthropomorphic tiger.
He looked astonishingly similar to the tiger men in animated works from his past life, dressed in heavy armor. The armor was covered in scars, giving a sense of seasoned battle experience.
"I'm waiting for my teammates here and thought you seemed like a newcomer. So I'd like to provide some answers to satisfy a junior's curiosity," he said, seemingly trying to ease Kane's vigilance.
"Of course, if you're willing to provide the answers," Kane appreciated the helpfulness—a free exchange of information was not something to refuse.
The anthropomorphic tiger grinned, saying, "The Amusing Cake from the Fairy Tale Castle is a golden consumable, originating from the 'Fairy Tale Castle,' a red-marked golden dungeon in the Yisu Kingdom. I'm not sure about the specifics of the dungeon, but I do know the specific effect of this cake."
"What effect?" Kane followed up.
The tiger was pleased with Kane's response and licked the back of his paw before continuing, "It gives whoever eats it the ability to come back to life once. Isn't that unbelievable?"
"Indeed," Kane hadn't expected the Golden Dungeon to produce an item capable of granting resurrection. How outlandish must the items from higher-level dungeons be?
However, the tiger seemed to have more to share, so he continued, "But I've heard that the Amusing Cake is considered somewhat subpar among resurrection items, and its drop rate isn't high. I know of a very formidable resurrection item, interested?"
"Of course I am," Kane was now certain that this senior was quite enthusiastic, perhaps one who relished the admiration of newcomers.
"Haha, then let me tell you about this treasure." He began.
"It's the Rebirth Cross, an item produced from the highest-priority Golden Dungeon, with not much difficulty in completion, and everyone who clears the dungeon is guaranteed to receive one. However, it's rumored that this dungeon will soon disappear, making the Rebirth Cross a limited edition item," the tiger suddenly became agitated.
After his excitement, he suddenly became dejected, saying, "I'm so close to reaching gold, I wonder if I'll make it in time."
Kane watched him; was he a silver expert close to gold? My respect.
"Since you know about it, why not hurry and explore the dungeon?"
Looking in the direction of the voice, a palm-sized person with butterfly wings suddenly appeared next to the tiger's ear, shouting at him.
Then she grabbed his ears with both hands, dragging him towards the stairway.
"I went to buy a potion, and you came here to show off to newcomers with your information. It's the same tale every time. Aren't you tired of it?"
"Blame it on the perpetual golden commission up there. When I was a newbie, I wished a senior would enlighten me about the information behind it. Now, I'm just fulfilling an unfinished dream." The tiger retorted.
Kane watched as the contrastingly sized duo noisily left the hall, noticing from others' reactions that this probably wasn't the first time.
Some even watched the pair with strange smiles, wondering if this world also had a penchant for 'shipping' couples.
With strange thoughts aside, Kane honestly began reviewing the copper commission lists.
The bulletin board was mostly filled with patrols, escorts, and beast-clearing commissions, as well as some seeking magic materials produced from dungeons, mostly from dungeons in other regions.
It seemed the more interesting and cost-effective commissions had been taken early on.
Having grasped the general commissions
He returned to the dungeon distribution map section, deciding to check which dungeons he should prioritize for exploration.
After a careful examination of the information on the three copper dungeons, through repeated comparisons, Kane chose two dungeons for priority exploration.
The first was the dungeon marked in green, [Commerce Ruins]
The second one represented the average copper level dungeon, [Crystalline Arena]
Once he explored these two dungeons, Kane should have a clear understanding of his own strength.
This would also help him position himself regarding the first dungeon, [Giant Wood Forest].
Kane looked at the clock hanging in the center of the hall; it was already 9 AM.
Realizing he hadn't had breakfast yet, he headed to the tavern on the first floor and ordered a meal.
Just after finishing his meal, a broadcast sound echoed through the hall.
Upon arriving at Sokayamas, Kane realized the development outside was a world apart from the border town.
Benefiting from the information and techniques produced in dungeons, the world had developed mana-powered technology, giving some city facilities an inexplicably futuristic feel.
The broadcast was precisely what prompted Kane to wake up early and come to the Explorer's House today
"The Mist Gate of this month will open today, officially organizing the newcomers to receive blessings starting at 10 AM.
The Mist Gate will remain open until 10 AM tomorrow. Please arrange your time wisely. Lastly, may the Mist bless you all."
With half an hour left, Kane followed the broadcast's guidance, eagerly heading to the front desk. He took his queue number—124.
Fortunately, it was said that over a thousand people were coming to the Explorer's House for blessings today, so his position was quite early; he hadn't arrived too late.
The Mist Gate of the Explorer's House was in the basement of the hall. When Kane went down.
The chair and bench around the waiting area were already filled with people, so he had to stand aside patiently waiting.
