"He fell asleep?"
Ale looked at the knocked out demon in front of him as he wondered to himself.
One could understand why Ale would take in some demon and give them shelter considering his knowledge of the future.
But how a demon that met a human for the first time could carelessly fall asleep in that humans house is something one would never be able to understand.
"Light kept watch."
The dragon crawled on top of Ale's shoulder and rubbed it's head on Ian as it reported. Ale gave him some quick pets before he approached the sleeping demon on the bed.
"Oi"
"...."
'Seriously?'
Ale wondered how he could fall into such deep sleep just like that. It was careless. Very.
"Hey! Wake up! Go take a shower!"
Ale almost dragged the guy out of the bed in an attempt to wake him up. After a few more seconds of shouting and dragging, Xion finally woke up and sat up on the bed.
He rubbed his eyes which were still sleepy and half open as he looked up at Ale. The annoyance in Ale's face and his casual behaviour really made Xion wonder what was wrong with this human.
"Ah.. Did I fall asleep?"
"What does it look like?"
"I was waiting for you... and then I got hungry.. and fell asleep."
"... you're hungry?"
"Mhm.."
"Eat this and go take a bath."
Ale took out some dried meat from his ring and handed it over to Xion as he pointed towards the bathroom.
"What's this?"
"Beef jerky."
*sniff* *sniff*
"It's good."
Xion sniffed the food and then started chewing one. He looked like a toddler who was seeing a new type of food for the first time.
"We can have a proper meal after you're done bathing."
Ale showed him how to use the bathroom and then came out to prepare their dinner. It was almost dinner time. He could see the Moon shining brightly outside the window.
Before Xion got out of the shower, Ale also called home and informed them that he'd be eating out today. He also separately told Kevin that everything was under control and that he didn't need to worry.
"This should be enough."
Ale took out some food from his ring and served them in a table. Since they were inside the ring, the food was steaming hot and fresh. There was curry, rice, veggies and some other dishes.
Ale was busy serving the food when he heard the door unlock behind him. Xion was done with his shower.
"You're done already? That's great. Come take a seat here."
Ale said those words without even looking back. But receiving no answer from the other side, when he turned around to see what was wrong, he was welcomed with a surprising sight.
"Umm.."
"???"
Xion managed to wear the pants by tucking his tail inside. But the shirt was a complete no go. Not only was it too short, since it was made to fit Ale, but his wings were also an issue.
"It won't fit."
"Dude... what the hell.."
Ale was left speechless by the sudden shocking scene. Water kept dropping down his long, white and shiny hair. The bronze skin which no longer had any blood, wound or cloth(?) on them and a clean, handsome face that could give Rudy a run for his money, it was enough to make people go speechless for a while.
But Ale wasn't. He was used to seeing this face all the time in his dreams. If anything, the only thing Ale noticed was the little bit of childishness that was still left in this Xion's face compared to the last memory he saw of Zion in the future.
"Shrink. Become my size. Are you dumb?"
"Shrink...?"
Ale suggested the easiest way to solve the issue. This was something that only Xion could. It was similar to morphing, but slightly different.
"Grow younger. Then you'll fit, no?"
But the Xion of this time still hadn't told anyone about this skill of his. That's why, when Ale told him to shrink, he was visibly surprised.
"How do you..know that?"
"Know what?"
But Ale, who had only mingled with one Demon all his life, thought it was an ability that all demon's had. Obviously he was wrong, but he wasn't close with any other demons for them to correct him.
"That I can change my body... How do you know that? Can you read minds? Or do you have a power that let's you know other people's specialty?"
Xion wondered as he came close wnd stood right in front of Ale. Staring Ale down with his six feet body, he was trying to figure out the mysteries of the human in front of him.
'Oh crap.. Was it a special ability? But he never said anything about that!'
Ale wondered how he could get out of the situation when a certain someone came into his view. Light. Another being who had an ability similar to Xion's.
"It's a special ability? I didn't know! Even Light can do that, y'know."
He tried to make it look like he had simply guessed since it was pretty common, which it wasn't. But Xion had no way of knowing that. He was knew to the human world afterall.
"Is that so.. How surprising."
Xion accepted Ale's words as the truth since he didn't know better. And Ale looked like a pretty trustworthy guy. Although he was being fooled.
The next moment, Xion used his mana to change the shape of his body and shrink into a size that was similar, yet slightly taller and bulkier than Ale. He did that intentionally, since he liked the idea of being the tallest.
"Now fold your wings, here, let me help."
Ale helped Xion fold his wings like those of a bats and helped him put on his shirt. There was only the issue of the horn now, but Ale decided that this much was enough for now.
"Lets eat before the food gets cold."
Xion enjoyed the delicacies of the Human realm for the first time that time. And he was more that surprised.
"How.. this.. it's so-!"
"Good, right? It's from my favourite restaurant."
Ale boasted as he stacked more food onto Xion's plate. His reaction was the same as what Ale remembered in his memories.
Even in that life, Xion always expressed his surprise and admired the food of Ale's world every time they dined together. Ale couldn't help but chuckle noticing the similarity.
What Ale failed to notice was that he was also subconsciously copying the habits of the future version of himself. The Ale in the future would also stack food after food on Xion's plate and watch him finish his food with a satisfied expression.
A line suddenly popped up in Ale's mind as he watched Xion finish his food. It was a thought that often crossed the future Ale's mind whenever they ate together. Unfortunately, the future Ale never managed to say the words out loud.
"Do you want to travel the world and eat all the tasty food out there with me?"
It was just a thought. That's all it was. But while Ale was getting his memories of the future mixed up with the past, he accidentally blurted out the words without noticing the difference in the timeline.
".....?"
Xion looked at Ale with tens of question in his mind, confused as to which one to begin with. Looking at that bewildered expression, Ale finally snapped back to reality.
'Ah.. I did it again.'
It wasn't the first time. Being continuously showerd with memories of the future and having to live in the present at the same time, Ale would often confuse the timelines and say things that sounded way out of place.
For example, one morning, he woke up and jumped out of his room through the window. He confused his bedroom with an Inn and mistook Kevin's knock on the bedroom door with those of his persuers from the future.
Ale fractured his wrist that day. His bedroom was on the second floor. And he hadn't even used his mana to strengthen his body before jumping.
There were many incidents like that during the last three years. And most of them were either unpleasant or had very bad consequences.
But this was the first time that Ale was more embarrassed and less injured or hurt by his subconscious mistake. Yeah. He was embarrassed. So embarrassed that he started turning red even before Xion could voice his confusion.
"Are you okay?!"
Seeing Ale turn red so suddenly, Xion forgot about his questions and stood up in shock instead. He approached Ale and wondered if something was wrong with the human.
From his knowledge about the humans, 1. They were very weak, 2. They could easily die, 3. Changing body colour was never good. So he started frantically checking Ale's body as he waited for Ale to response.
"Hey.. Don't die, please. Why are you turning red? Are you sick? Do you need a potion?"
Ale on the other hand, was too embarrassed and speechless to respond to Xion's worries.
'Ahh.. you fucking idiot.'
He could only curse his stupid self in his mind as he tried to calm down and regain his composure.
