Going through the empty hallway, I could feel the awful pain all around my body. I was lucky to even have survived this time. They were really intending to mess me up.
I've been in this kind of situation since entering high school. I thought I could have a good school life and graduate from a good university to support my family, but I guess I was too naive to think I would have that type of chance.
The place I was heading to was the infirmary. All of the students had classes and activities to attend to so the hallways were empty. Ms. Fyone was the only nurse in our school, and also the only person I trusted the most in this hell of a place. When ever I get beaten up either I would go to her myself or she would drag me there, heal me and tell me some words of encouragement to help me keep dealing with all the crap I was facing. I really appreciate her for this. No other staff member had even paid attention to me this much until now.
"Hello, Ms.Fyone?"
At the first glance that she saw me, she threw herself out of her chair and panicked:
"Oh god, Leon! What did they do to you this time, are you okay? Look at your face! Show me your injuries now!"
She forcefully unclothed my school uniform jacket and observed my chest.
"Oh dear, look at you! Your all beat up!"
"..."
"Don't make that face! Didn't I warn you not to get in trouble again?"
"I'm sorry Ms.Fyona. They came at me first."
"Huh, I see. Why don't you go to the principals office? I have told you numerous times to do so."
"I already have, but he won't do anything and just brushes me off"
"Jeez, that bastard. I can't handle it anymore. I'm going to have a chat with him."
She was always like this, trying to help me out. I never knew why she was always saving me, but I can't get her involved, not this time.
"No Ms. Fyone, I can't get you involved in this, I'll take care of this myself."
"Haaa..." she sighed.
"Listen Leon, I know your worried about me, but notice that dealing with your problems all on your own does not always work out. People sometimes need help to do things and I know this is one of those times."
I knew it. She wasn't backing down. I had these kinds of arguments with her and never had a chance to win, so I accepted it without even trying to fight back.
"Alright, but I want you to promise me it won't risk your job status, OK?"
"Alright Leon, I promise." She said with a smoothing smile.
"OK, now let's get those injuries treated. You got a lot of scolding ahead of you mister!"

School ended with a flash, and I'm currently stumbling my way through the streets and roads to reach home. Thanks to Ms. Fyone's treatment I don't have to suffer from the pain and make my family worried.
Huh, now that I think about it, what is going to become of my life in the future? Will I have a good job? Will I be able to support my family? Will I be able to have a family of my own? Who knows, its too soon to think about those matters now, I just need to focus on my studies until I graduate from a good college. To reach that dream, I need to avoid getting into trouble during my time in high school. Damn it, why do I think its going to be easy? Those bastards won't ever leave me alone.
The well known third years of my school are brutal in their own kind of way, stealing stuff from underclassmen, Bullying kids, and a lot more heinous things.
Unfortunately, I'm one of their favorite victims.
The reason for this is my former best friend selling me out to them because he himself was getting tired of the torture, so he offered me as a replacement. After our first encounter, some of them would come to me during class breakes and mess me and my stuff up.
"..."
"Wait, where am I?" I said as I confusingly looked around.
This is not a part of the rout that I take back to my home.
"Could it be possible that..."
I ran the opposite direction.
"Oh, I was so immersed in thought that I didn't realize I already reached home." I said as I sighed in relief.
After entering the house, I could feel the calm and plesent aura that made my dark and depressing thoughts vanish into nothingness in my mind.
"Hello Dad, Mom, I'm back."
Its always nice to be home. Honestly, If I could describe this, it would be like getting fresh water down you trout after being dehydrated for more than two years.
"Oh, hello honey. Welcome back." said my mother with a sweet tone and a bright smile.
"Well well, if it isn't my favorite lady killer. How was it, could you score with one today, hmm mm?" Said my dad with a jokester tone and face.
"Geez, dad. You really need to stop this. You know I don't have time for that and besides, I'm not interested in getting a girlfriend either."
"Ugh, your being a woos again. If your going to go on like this, I won't be able to meet my daughter- in-Owww."
Right before finishing his sentence, dad got smacked by one of moms most handy weapons, dubbed the ultimate sense crusher, the FLIP FLOP.
While whouling in pain, dad tried to resume his tedious sentences, but got struck again.
In the midst of her so called method of 'shutting him up' She said: "don't worry about what he says son. So, how was your school day? You didn't get into any trouble by those brats, right? I made sure to teach that bastard a lesson before, but if he tries to overlook this, let me know, OK honey?"
Nodding my head, I said a quick "yes, mom" and just stared at the horrible site that I was seeing.
A few hours after I went to my room to study, I heard the jiggling sound of the keys hitting each other as the door opened and a voice followed: "Hey mom, dad. I'm back."
Yep, it was Luis. My younger brother and my best pal in life. He is only one year younger than me, so talking to him in my mindset wasn't difficult at all. Luis is a really well and popular student. Both smart and good looking, he got his future set in stone within just 15 years of his life. Unfortunately, I don't have the respect thing that Luis has, making me harder to achieve my goals.
I didn't go down to greet him, since he would come to my room himself without even knocking on the door.
Finally, after some talk with my parents I heard footsteps coming towards my room. I didn't even wait and opened the door. In a little bit of a shock, he responded: "Oh Hey Leo, what's up? So you knew I was already home huh? I was planning on scaring you to see your face."
"Yeah, you always do that don't you? You should've expected me to be used to this by now."
"Yeah, I guess your right. So, how did your day go?
Not getting bothered again are you?"
"No, everything's fine. At least for now."
" I see... if you get into trouble with those guys again inform your family OK? You know we always have your back."
" Yeah, I know. Thanks Luis."
That night, I had a really good time with my family. I'm really happy to have these kind of people caring for me with all their heart, and I swear I am going to support them back.
As I think of going to school tomorrow while laying on the bed, my eyelids become heavy and I gradually fall asleep. But I didn't know at that time, that my whole life would change after waking up.
