Chapter 208. Tesseract (Part2)

During the sudden change in the weather, a large amount of lightning began to gather around Thor. Then, a large amount of currents flashed, and Thor, who was lying on the ground, could suddenly be seen standing up while holding up Mjolnir.

Not only did he come back to life, but his outfit had also changed to a majestic suit of armour.

'Was this a magical girl transformation?! Why did his resurrection come with an outfit change?'

Seeing the scene, Ryan couldn't help but think so in the antique shop.

He really couldn't understand why Mjolnir had a costume change effect.

"Loki, this time we ..."

Holding Mjolnir and regaining the power of the God of Thunder, Thor was proudly looking for a fight with the Destroyer. He looked around but didn't see the Destroyer in sight. Instead, he noticed the scraps of metal around the Phantom Thief's feet.

"..."

"What's going on? Where's the Destroyer?"

After a moment of silence, Thor turned to look at Jane, who was beside herself with excitement and asked.

The situation was somewhat different from what he expected.

Pressing down her excitement and facing Thor's question, Jane replied, "If you mean that huge metal ... thing... the thief guy that we met at the bar earlier had destroyed it."

[Reputation points from Thor Odinson +580]

"Destroyed? He destroyed the Destroyer?" "

Thor was well aware of the Destroyer's power. As a weapon of war Odin had made, even he had to rely on the power of the God of Thunder to defeat it. The Phantom Thief, on the other hand, didn't seem like someone powerful enough to do that, judging by how he fought with Bucciarati in the bar earlier.

"I'm not sure how. I just saw him touch its head with his bare hand, and it just disintegrated."

[Reputation points from Thor Odinson +760]

After hearing Jane's answer, rather than resolving it, the doubts in Thor's mind grew bigger.

...

Although the Destroyer problem in town had been resolved, the ensuing war between the two brothers, Thor and Loki of Asgard, was clearly beyond Ryan's reach.

However, from the points revealed on the system data panel, Ryan knew that the battle in Asgard was over; the sleeping Odin had awakened and knew about what had happened in Midgard, otherwise known as earth.

Although Thor left earth and returned to Asgard, his subsequent influence still remained and was getting stronger.

As a witness to the whole event, Agent Coulson led Erik Selvig to a secret underground base that resembled a labyrinth.

"Doctor Selvig."

"So, you're the man behind all this?"

Erik looked at the one-eyed black man in front of him and asked.

"It's quite a labyrinth. I was thinking they're taking me down here to kill me." Because of what happened to Dr Banner, Erik had always been wary of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Nick Fury's expression remained unchanged in response to Erik's question, "I've heard about the New Mexico situation. Although the whole thing was even more complicated than anticipated, it clearly showed us that humans aren't special in this universe."

"..."

Fury's words silenced Erik.

In the past, he might have ignored people mentioning or even implying "aliens", as Fury was doing. However, after what happened with Thor, it was clear to Erik that it was all true, even if it was hard for him to accept.

"So, what do you need me for?"

After a short pause, Erik looked up at Fury and asked.

"Dr Selvig, human beings aren't special, nor are we safe." In response to Erik's question, Fury didn't answer. Instead, he turned around and walked on. As he turned to leave, Erik hesitated for a moment but then followed him.

As a scientist, he unavoidably possessed a strong sense of curiosity.

"There are forces in this world that we don't understand. They may be strong or weak, but they remain mysterious. You can never know what purpose these forces and their masters hold for the earth we live in. Thor isn't the only special case. He may have good intentions towards us, but we cannot guarantee that this is the case for all of them. Just like the Destroyer."

Fury led Erik through the underground base, eventually stopping at a heavily guarded site.

Fury glanced back at Erik behind him and reached out to open the uniquely shaped suitcase.

"So, we need the power to protect ourselves."

"What is it?"

Erik bowed his head and looked at the cube in the case, which kept emitting an eerie blue light, with a bewildered expression.

"Power, Doctor. We call it the Cube. If we can figure out how to tap into it, maybe unlimited power."

Erik looked at the Cube in front of him, his expression still a little puzzled.

However, in the next moment, in a reflection that no one paid attention to, Loki's figure suddenly appeared beside Erik's. He looked down at the blue Cube in the box and felt the enormous power contained in it. He couldn't help but say, "Well, I guess that's worth a look."

As Loki's voice fell, Erik subconsciously raised a smile and replied, "Well, I guess that's worth a look."

...

The conversation between Nick Fury and Erik Selvig in the secret base and the appearance of Tesseract were, naturally, unknown to Ryan.

However, with Thor's return, Ryan understood that the Battle of New York was coming. Although with the power he currently possessed, the Battle in New York was no longer a threat to him, Ryan was well aware that the battle was only the beginning of many more brutal battles to come.

So, if he didn't want to be reduced to dust, he would need to work even harder to gain reputation points.

However, at the moment, Jiu You and Peng Lai hadn't shown up on stage for a long while since the battle with the cyborg army a while back. For the moment, Ryan couldn't think of a reason for them to show up on the scene. On the other hand, Bucciarati and Phantom Thief Kid had just made their presence known in New Mexico. Thinking about it, Ryan realised that he actually didn't have any suitable targets or opportunities to harvest reputation points at hand.

'Do I have to wait for the Battle of New York?'

Waiting in silence wasn't Ryan's style. After a moment's hesitation, he turned his attention to the item he had drawn earlier.
