Chapter 248. Heavenly Demons (Part2)

"How much did he drink?"

The search for Tesseract wasn't as easy as it seemed, and even though Banner, on Tony's advice, bypassed SHIELD's main systems directly into the subsystem group using SHIELD's internal supercomputer to do the search, it would still take some time.

Tony looked at the [Drunken Sword Immortal], who had collapsed in the lab, purring and sleeping. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in question.

"I'm not sure, but it shouldn't be a small amount."

Holding up his glasses for a moment, Banner remarked with uncertainty.

"That's a lot!"

Turning his head to look at the collapsed figure on the ground, completely devoid of any immortal look. 'Well, Master Roshi didn't really have any immortal look either. He was just a pervert old man.'

Anyway, seeing the [Drunken Sword Immortal] sleeping on the floor, Tony couldn't help but say, "I've been watching him drink since he got on the ship. Logically, he's downed far more than the gourd could hold." As he spoke, Tony's gaze involuntarily went to the wine gourd on the [Drunken Sword Immortal]'s chest.

"Didn't you say that the other old man was an immortal from That Peng something place? If he is some sort of deity, demi-god, or whatever, doing something out of the boundaries of our logic should be easy for him."

Since there was another "deity" that could control lighting with a hammer around them, it wasn't hard for Banner to accept the idea of what the [Drunken Sword Immortal] was.

"You're right."

Banner's reasoning, while successful in persuading Tony, apparently did nothing to stop his curiosity, "But aren't you curious about that gourd in his hand? How on earth does it do that? Flying holds more than it appears? Is it bigger on the inside? How does it work?"

"Curious, but ..." Glancing down at the seemingly unconscious [Drunken Sword Immortal], Banner pushed his glasses back in a desperate attempt to clear the air, "I'm well aware of what I should and shouldn't do." After spending some time together, Banner got a general feel for Tony's personality.

'Captain America wasn't wrong about him, he's somewhat of a loose cannon.'

"It's not like it's a big deal, I just want to bring it over and study it a bit."

Shrugging his shoulders, Tony took another look at the [Drunken Sword Immortal], who was deeply asleep. He gulped and slowly tiptoed to the other party's side.

As Banner nervously watched, Tony held out his own hand with bated breath and carefully picked up the wine gourd resting on the Drunken Sword Immortal's chest.

"Zzzzz ~"

Picking up the gourd, Tony looked back at Banner behind him and saw that the other party looked relieved.

"This ..."

Shaking the gourd in his hand, Tony was about to brag when he immediately remembered that the [Drunken Sword Immortal] was still asleep next to him and swallowed his words, carefully tiptoeing back to where he was before.

"This looks like a very ordinary gourd...."

Although Banner was worried about what Tony was doing before, when Tony did bring it over, Banner couldn't resist his curiosity. He went over to him, holding his glasses up close, and began to look at the immortal's gourd.

"Weight-wise, there's nothing strange about it."

Weighing the gourd in his hand, Tony spoke up with a puzzled expression.

Before, he saw how easily the [Drunken Sword Immortal] turned a large gourd that was large enough to let a person sit on it into a small gourd, like the one in front of him. He thought that there would be a big difference in weight, but who would have thought that it would be this easy to hold?

The gourd in Tony's hand was naturally an ordinary gourd.

The reason why it looked so extraordinary was purely because of the spell cast by the [Drunken Sword Immortal] -- [Gourd Change].

Unable to see anything extraordinary about the gourd, even after turning it over and over, Tony and Banner couldn't help but think about looking inside. When they were about to open the thing, a low voice was suddenly heard from the entrance.

"Banner, Stark! What are you two doing?"

Hearing Fury's voice, Tony quickly placed the gourd down while Banner stepped up to hide it with his body.

"You're supposed to be locating the Tesseract."

Not noticing their previous moves, Fury glanced at [Drunken Sword Immortal], who was snoring away in the lab and tried to keep his attention on the other two in the lab.

"Well, that's what we're doing." The way Fury looked at the [Drunken Sword Immortal] caused Banner's insides to tighten up, and he hastily spoke up to explain, "The model's locked, and we're sweeping for the signature now. When we get a hit, we'll have the location within half a mile. We'll get you're cube back."

After answering Fury's question, Tony's eyes were immediately attracted to the information displayed on the screen in front of him.

Since a while ago, he had been cracking SHIELD's firewall through Jarvis, searching for information on SHIELD's research into the Tesseract, which he now happened to find. Looking at the various weapon designs in front of him, Tony couldn't help but raise an eyebrow of his own and ask Nick-Fury a counter-question. "What is phase II?"

Bang --

"Phase II is SHIELD uses the cube to make weapons!"

Tossing the weapon in his hand onto the table, which bore a resemblance to the Arnimhilation 99L Assault Weapon Hydra had made during World War II, Steve's expression was a little grim. In the war with Hydra, too many of their soldiers died under these 99L Assault Weapon made from the cube. Now, they were seen in SHIELD's weapons storage.

"Sorry, the computer was moving a little slow for me."

"Gentlemen, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean we were...."

A previous conversation with Tony made Steve suspicious.

When confronted with the question, Fury was about to open his mouth to explain.

"Sorry, Nick ...!"

Interrupting Fury's words, Tony pulled his screen over to face them, revealing SHIELD's design for the Tesseract weapon.

"What were you lying about? Making ... weapons? Then what are these? Don't tell me someone doodles this out of boredom."

During the quarrel, Natasha and Thor, who got the 'truth' from Loki's mouth, also came to the laboratory.

As the members of the Avengers gathered, the atmosphere in the laboratory, rather than easing up, became even more heated.

"What's your purpose? I like to know why SHIELD is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction!" Having been "forcefully" invited to SHIELD's ship for unknown reasons, Banner clearly had strong issues with what SHIELD was doing.

"..."

Sweeping his eyes over the crowd in front of him, Nick-Fury took a deep breath before reaching out to point at Thor and the [Drunken Sword Immortal], who was still asleep under the circumstances, and replied, "It's because of them!"

Thor: "Me?"

[Drunken Sword Immortal]: "Zzzz... Zzzz..."
