Asmodyus’ P.O.V
My mind was too excited for me to rest that night. Once the boy I danced with rushed off in their carriage, I held the shoe close to me as I made my way around the corridor that led to the ball. I knew that if Malik saw me amongst the attendees he’d want my neck.
I walked swiftly to my chambers, hearing my mother following behind me. The two of us entered my room at once, and she quickly closed the door behind us. I could feel from her energy that she was anxious to hear what happened.
“Son? What’s going on?”
I gently set the shoe on my desk, turning to her.
“I found him, mother,” I answered, “I found my mate.”
She stared at me for a moment, as if she didn’t hear me the first time. Suddenly her face split into the biggest smile I had seen in years. She ran to me and embraced me tightly, practically spinning me around. I had to pull her off of me to get her to calm herself.
“This is wonderful news, son,” she said in hushed excitement, “What’s the lad’s name?”
