Tulip

How do I start? Hmmm, okay! I am the prime princess of the Zangula kingdom.I am the first and only child of my mother who is the first of the three wives of my father the King, Achebe Abasi II. Jade Abasi is my beloved brother and the heir to the throne. He is only three years younger than I am, he is currently seventeen. I have been trained to be his protector. His mother, Arielle Santos Abasi, is the third wife of my father and she treats me as her daughter unlike father's second wife. Well, let me give you a better picture of my pretty self.

I am as beautiful as a purple tulip flower. I have a triangular face, almond eyes and a snub nose. My hair is luxuriant and falls gorgeously about my shoulders. My teeth are like a flock of newly shorn sheep coming up from washing, each one having a twin, and not one missing. My lips are like a scarlet cord and my mouth is lovely. My brow is like a slice of pomegranate. My neck is like the tower of Del, constructed in layers; A thousand bucklers hung on it - all of them shields of warriors. My breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle, that feed among lilies. I am as brave as a lion and as calm as a running tortoise. The most prominent thing that makes me beautiful is my heart, which is as pure as refined gold and as clear as a crystal. I am a very ambitious and enthusiastic young lady. I am a philokalist; I am a lover of beauty. I am the girl with only two names and Ndale Abasi is my beautiful name.

As I stated earlier, my Dad is the King and we are very rich. I get to have all I desire but there has always been some sought of emptiness. I am twenty now. At age five, my mum took me to a fair where I got missing. I was petrified. I searched everywhere for her but she was beyond my reach. A lot of people pushed me, none showing any kindness, they were all just going about their own business. It was very devastating. Just then my hero took my hand, he was a young charming boy and looked a bit older than I was. He led me out of the crowd to a beautiful garden. I followed him quietly and obediently. He was in a white and gold dress. His voice was music to my soul and his words spread calm through my veins. I had an amazing conversation with him and it felt as though we had known each other for quite some time. He gave me a heart shaped diamond necklace before walking me home.I never saw him gain after that day. I even forgot to ask for his name. My Mum ran and hugged me tightly. Everyone was happy and I was glad to be back home.

Today's dream brought him back to mind. In my dream, I was standing stranded in a dark space and the darkness engulfed me till the point I was too frail to stand on my feet. Just then I saw my hero again but this time he looked as bright as the morning star. He took gentle strides towards me and carried me in his arms, hugged me and whispered these heart warming words ..."I love you and will always be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you. I will be with you till the end of time. You are precious to me. I will always wait for you, my dearest." He kissed me affectionately on my forehead and I was awakened from my sleep by the birds chirping. He was all grown up and extremely handsome. He was so perfect. I couldn't help but smile. I could not help but simper all through the day and was in a really good mood. I wrote those beautiful words in my diary and drew a picture of him. Since I didn't know his actual name I called him 'my Love'.

Zangula is an empire of technology. It is a serene mountainous city with a panoramic night sky view. I habitually lay on my mat to stare at the breathtaking view while listening to some relaxing music. My father said Zangula had the most beautiful night sky. On the first day of the seventh month, annually, Zangulans take a hiatus from work. In Zangula, we do not do the most but enough. Everyone rests and spends time with their family. A while before dusk, every Zangulan family spreads out the Kula which is a soft native woven six by five feet cloth. We dance, eat and make merry until dusk. Then everyone lies on the Kula to admire the mesmerizing sky. The sky is most beautiful on this day from dawn to dusk at this point the moon literally smiles at us.

Mount Zangula is the barrier between us and other nations. It is said that no one ever goes out or comes in and all who ever made an attempt died. But I never believed this tale. They probably say that because the people who embarked on such an adventure never returned. I am very curious about what is out there. I have a lot of questions that need to be answered and before I join my mother who died a month ago I must embark on that journey. I believe 'my Love' is out there, perhaps that is why I have not met him again. Tonight we all lay outside admiring this beautiful scenery.
