Chapter 327: The Summoning Enchantment (Edited)

Newt set aside the matter of his grandson and walked to the center of the open space, clapping his hands, and all the young wizards turned towards him. "Children, it seems like you get along very well with your Nifflers. These adorable furry creatures are much more charming than your roommates, don't you think?"

The young wizards heard the second half of the sentence and burst into laughter.

"But..." Newt changed the subject and began to talk about the habits of Nifflers.

Someone once joked that if a sentence has a "but," there's no need to pay attention to what comes before it.

"The nature of Nifflers is gentle, one might even say tender. However, they can destroy everything around them in their search for shiny objects. Most importantly, if provoked, Nifflers can become ferocious, which is why they are not suitable as pets."

Newt took out his wand and pointed towards the open field behind him. Dozens of small, shiny jewels flew out of his pocket and dove into the field. After the last jewel had also disappeared into the ground, Newt used magic to flip the soil and bury the treasures.

After doing all that, he looked at the young wizards and said, "You all saw me hiding some treasures there. Release your Nifflers and let them search for them. But not only must they find the objects, they must also find a way to make the Nifflers give them the treasures they find. In the end, those who obtain the most treasures will earn points for their houses and receive a prize that I have prepared."

"Alright, begin!" Newt gave the order, and the young wizards released their Nifflers. The Nifflers, attracted by the shiny objects, quickly got rid of their restraints and eagerly dug into the ground with their four short legs.

There were exceptions, like the Niffler in Tom's hands, which wanted to take Tom's ring before searching for treasures in the ground. But after Tom looked at it sternly, it obediently went into the ground to search for treasures. Hermione's Niffler also initially focused on her bracelet, but after getting a hit on the head, it abandoned its audacious plan.

Although Tom and Hermione's Nifflers were not successful, that didn't mean all the Nifflers failed. Tom watched as one Niffler quickly stuffed a stolen watch into its pouch pocket and then jumped back into the flipped earth.

"My ring!"

"Give me back my watch!"

"Be careful, it might steal your wallets too!"

There were successive exclamations, but once these little thieves succeeded, they disappeared underground, leaving the young wizards standing there looking confused at each other.

The Nifflers went in and out of the field as if they were swimming in water. Sometimes, a Niffler could be seen emerging from the ground like a diver to take a breath, and sometimes, from the mouth of a Niffler emerging from beneath the earth, one or two shiny jewels would dangle.

However, the faces of the young wizards gradually turned stiff. Their own Nifflers weren't coming back! Shouldn't they have happily returned to them after finding the treasures? How did it come to this, refusing to hand over the unearthed objects?

They didn't want to give up the treasure they had unearthed!

Newt stood to the side, smiling. "These are the natural behaviors of wild Nifflers. Only Nifflers raised by wizards will give the objects they find to their owners. Normal Nifflers are all hoarders, which is why wizards who can domesticate Nifflers are very rare."

Young wizards: Oh no!

What could they do?

They could only crouch down and call their own Nifflers. But after shouting a couple of times, they realized the problem: they couldn't distinguish which Niffler belonged to them! They all looked the same.

Hermione saw her roommate and friend, Sue Li, crouched on the ground in a duck-like position, with a lost look on her face.

"What's wrong?" Hermione approached her and shook her shoulder.

"My watch was stolen," Sue Li had a desperate expression. "Now, over twenty Nifflers are mixed together, I can't distinguish which one took my watch..."

Hermione thought for a moment. "Well, I can't tell which one is yours, but I can help you retrieve your watch."

Sue Li looked up, surprised, and the surrounding young wizards turned their heads, observing the situation. Many of them shared Sue Li's difficult situation.

"This is a spell learned in fourth grade, it's a bit complicated but very useful. It's called Summoning Charm (Accio)." Hermione took out her wand and cleared her throat. "Accio watch!"

As she pronounced the spell, she strained her mind to think of "Sue Li's watch, Sue Li's watch...". If it wasn't specified, the spell would surely fail, or even if the wizard had enough power, it could summon all the watches within a certain area. But it was clear that Hermione couldn't do that.

With the spell, a plump, dark figure flew out of the mud and hit the ground in front of Sue Li, splattering her robe with mud.

That figure was a Niffler holding a watch tightly in its hand. Apparently, when the watch came out of its belly, the Niffler was also dragged out.

The spell to control the Nifflers was a success!

"Look, I found your watch and also solved the Niffler problem," Hermione said proudly, placing her hands on her hips.

Sue Li: Wow!

She grabbed the Niffler trying to escape with her hands, lifted its two hind legs, and shook it a couple of times, causing several golden rings and earrings to fall from its pouch pocket.

Upon seeing this, other young wizards imitated her and took out their wands, pointing at the ground and shouting, "Accio something!"

However, the Accio spell was not as easy to cast as Wingardium Leviosa. Everyone imitated Hermione's appearance, but none of them succeeded.

Fortunately, near the end of the class, all the treasures on the ground had already been discovered. Some clever young wizards piled their belongings at their feet and managed to attract several Nifflers.

"That's my Niffler. Look, that golden Galleon was snatched from me!"

"Who doesn't have a few Galleons? That one clearly belongs to my Niffler!"

"Stop arguing, can't you see it dropped a ring with my initials?"

"But you just claimed one a moment ago!"

To gain more rewards, the young wizards did their best to claim ownership of the Nifflers and argued loudly about it. Tom, indifferent to the supposed rewards and points, simply stood there, silently observing the young wizards fight and argue. When all the Nifflers emerged from the mud, he calmly chose the fattest one of them all.
