Heavenly Defence

"Well, no matter. Let's just get going, I wouldn't want any other players to get to the boss first."

"Mhm, plus if we kill the boss first I could trade some rare items for lots of cash~!"

Vi gave a smile to Forset. As they fought together they learned more about each other's character. Vi learned how Forset was really into making money, it was practically her main characteristic. He wasn't bothered by it though, he believed that everyone has reasons for what they desire.

As Vi thought about what to do he got an idea, 'Why don't I just cut through the maze?'

Vi went up to a maze wall and swung his scythe at it. Just as he was about to hit it his scythe was stopped by a shield.

"What are you doing? Can't you sense the immense amount of mana coming from these walls? Attacking it would be suicide."

Vi was confused, he hasn't sensed any kind of magical properties coming from the leaf walls or anything else.

"That's strange, I can't feel anything coming from the wall... whatever. Let's just get going."

Vi walked towards the right entrance and Forset followed. He was walking through without out much care when he felt something was wrong. He stopped, but Forset didn't, causing him to grab her by the collar to stop her from walking.

Just as Forset was about to get mad at Vi, the floor she would have been standing on without his interjection shook and fell, revealing a pit filled with lava.

"For now on we have to be careful about traps as well."

Forset thought about what could have just happened and gulped, "Yea, thanks for the save."

"No problem."

Vi felt the air around Forset change a little when she thanked him, it almost felt like she was upset for whatever reason.

Vi just decided to ignore the social cue since she wasn't saying anything about it.

They kept on marching forward as they were barely dodging a multitude of different kinds of traps. Compared to these traps, the lava pit was only the beginning.

There were poison-laced arrows, and giant boulders, hell they had to walk over a tightrope hanging above a pit of spikes.

After walking through the maze for what felt like hours, they finally found something other than a trap.

In front of them laid a giant iron door in a deep slumber that had strange runes engraved on it.

"... Vi I'm not sure you can feel it, but there is an extreme amount of mana coming from inside of that room."

"Oh, yea? Then I don't see why we're waiting out here, let's go inside and greet whatever is waiting for us in there.

Forset looked at Vi and saw the excitement in his eyes, 'Is this guy some sort of battle fiend? Well, I guess I'll help him since I've gotten this far...'

Vi went up to the door and put his hand on the side of it before slowly opening it.

When he opened it a strange sight entered his eyes. The room felt like an ice-cold arena, the terrain was a cold flat metal that covered a large area. On the other side of the room, there was another iron door with runes engraved on it. When he looked up he saw stands for people to sit down and watch what was happening inside of the arena, although they were all empty.

As Vi was observing the room he found himself in, he heard an old raspy voice vibrate throughout the open room, "... Finally... a new challenger. How many years has it been? I've lost count since that bastard Loki trapped me here. Well as long as I kill you two ill be... 0.02% closer to escaping this place.

Vi's eyes landed on where the voice originated revealing a humanoid figure sitting criss-cross. He had old white hair, deep wrinkles, and blood-red eyes. The eyes are what made Vi nervous, he could see runes inside of them that were similar to the ones on the iron doors.

The man slowly began to stand up while talking to them, "Alright, due to the rules of this trial I'll have to lower my strength to your level, good luck."

The old man didn't give them any time to fully understand the situation and leaped toward Vi. Even though he said he would lower his strength, Vi could still barely see him when he moved toward him.

"Are you really this weak? I thought you were a chosen one."

The old man showed up in front of Vi's face and punched him in the stomach.

BOOM!

As his fist made contact with Vi's belly a shockwave of energy spread across the room causing the metal below him to crack and Vi to go flying into a wall.

"Bleugh!!"

Vi violently vomited an immense amount of blood all over the cool black metal floor, contrasting colors.

Vi fell and hit the floor with a thud. He wasn't going to let himself die with just one hit though and slowly clawed his way back up to his feet. Just as he got back on his feet the old man was in front of his face once again.

"So this generation of chosen ones have fallen so far already. What a disappointment..."

The old man lifted his leg and brutally swung it at Vi's side making another blast of energy spread across the room. Vi once again went flying to the other side of the room and his ragdoll body smashed against the wall once again. This cycle continued for a while.

Forset was at the iron door watching Vi get thrown across the room over and over and over again. Every time he was thrown across the room, unsettling memories resurfaced themselves to attack her mental stability.

The motion pictures of her worst memories began playing over and over in her head making her lose sanity.

"AHHH-"

As Forset was in the middle of screaming because of traumatic memories showing themselves to her, a voice entered her head.

"FORSET!!! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH, NOR WOULD I EVEN IF I DID KNOW, BUT WHAT I DO KNOW IS THAT I BELIEVE IN YOU TO HAVE MY BACK! I COMPLETELY TRUST YOU TO PROTECT ME!"

Vi noticed the way Forset was slowly losing mental stability and, despite being in immense pain, yelled out to her. So what if he was in physical pain? Mental pain is even worse than physical pain, and he would do anything he could to do to help Forset. He may have only known her for a couple of hours but he felt a deep connection between the both of them and he would do anything to protect their friendship.

As Forset heard Vi's words she woke up from the horrible nightmare playing in her brain. When she heard his words, she realized how much trust he put in her. Her eyes which were originally filled with fear, anxiety, and torment disappeared, determination replacing them, 'If he trusts me so much... how could I just sit back and let him die? It may only be a video game, but the friendships you can make in it are very real!"

"Hmmm, this will be enough. You can use the skill now."

Forset heard a voice enter her head and she looked at her shield with shining eyes. All of a sudden, a string of information, that she couldn't understand whatsoever, forcefully entered her head. After loitering for a second it left leaving only two words for her to shout at the sky.

"HEAVENLY WALL!!!"

BOOM!

A blast of energy, even stronger than the old man's, flew across the room causing it to shake. A blue aura showed itself, covering her like a blanket. Just as the blue aura covered her, she disappeared. After a second of disappearing, she reappeared in front of Vi just when he was about to get the finishing blow to his head.

BOOM!

A collision of two great energies commenced and they were both trying to push each other back, but after a second of this tug of war, the blue aura prevailed.

BOOM!

The old man went flying across the room with a surprised expression covering his face. As he smashed against the wall he spat out some blood, but he was only smiling, 'I suppose they are worthy.'
