Restarting W1 (2)

Dina had just finished her lessons with Aunt Katelyn and was more than ready to leave for the second world but decided to at least learn of the ending of the ones she had once spent a lifetime with.

It was only right, wasn’t it?

That was when she came across Jean’s thoughts in the book. Yes, although creepy it also recorded one’s thoughts and certain private situations that really shouldn’t.

Dina was shocked as to why Jean still remembered them, although it was distorted, his memories of them were still there.

“For some reason, he remembers us but not the events that happened before the restart and now all he knows is that we once existed but he can’t tell how, when, where….” Dina muttered to Zero as she looked at him endearingly for an answer.

Zero thought for a bit but didn’t seem to find an answer, he did have a theory but the rules wouldn’t approve of him telling Dina about it.

“I can’t tell host but I promise to report this to the higher uppers and have it sorted by the end of your second mission,” Zero responded.

“I would love that,” Dina huffed, she wasn’t stupid, of course, she knew Zero probably had an idea but couldn’t tell her, this made her quite frustrated and steeled her desire to increase her ranks even further.

“What about Jack… I mean Favela?” Dina asked sadly, he had been brooding over her… Jerry’s corpse since the past centuries.

She had learned that the speed of time was quite different from each world and only the system space had the approximate measurement of times from all the worlds. But even that could only be accessed when one reached a certain rank.

Thankfully, it seemed it wasn’t forbidden as Zero actually told her the time difference between Jack’s world, Jean’s, and, the system space.

‘It has been three centuries in Jack’s time while it’s been thirty years for Jean’s while here was… inexistent.’

Dina had been told that apparently for the system space to correspond to all times in the world it had to be timeless which meant that… time didn’t exist here. In reality, it did but it was so miniscule that it could be regarded as inexistent.

She was confused about this but knew that it wasn’t yet time for her to know more.

‘Just wait! I’ll reach rank S eventually and get all those information!’

There was seven ranks based number of completed missions and grading.

Rank S: 100 Rank A Missions or 28 Rank S Missions

Rank A: 50 Rank A Missions or 10 Rank S Missions

Rank B: 30 Rank B Missions or 10 Rank A Missions

Rank C: 25 Rank C Missions or 7 Rank B Missions

Rank D: 20 Rank D Missions or 11 Rank C Missions

Rank E: 15 Rank E Missions or 8 Rank D Missions

Rank F: Beginner

But in special cases like Dina whose entire mission is ranked from A to S. All she needs was 25 Rank S Mission along with quite a high number of grades for each mission for a direct flight to the S rank.

Missions are ranked according to their level of danger which was why all of Dina’s missions were A-S level missions based on the level of threat it had.

“Host get ready,” Zero called out to Dina who was lost in thoughts.

“Ah, alright but can I check my interface one last time?” Dina asked.

“Of course.”

DING!

“They say that Beginner’s gifts are from their department heads so… what kind of thing are they wishing me with the scent assaulter?” Dina thought out loud with a chuckle.

How naughty~.

“Do not misunderstand host, all gifts are beneficial only for the mission,” Zero cautioned.

“Yeah, yeah.” Dina answered while rolling her eyes, typical Zero, always so broody~.

‘However, they really were generous, a rare type item along with two noble type? Fucking amazing, as expected of my influence hahaha,’ Dina thought with a wicked smile.

Being special really does wonders in whichever workplace one is in.

Items were ranked accordingly from Common types to Pure types.

Common types items, Noble type items, Rare type items, Elite type items, and Pure type items.

‘They say the times you can come across each items where according to their ranks, which meant for a common type you can only come across it three times and for a pure type once which means for a rare type… thrice. And I’ve already been gifted one! How lucky!’

After confirming various things as well, Dina knew she was finally ready. With one lonely glance at Jack who was still wallowing over her, she sighed. She had to be strong, with her rank forget about comforting him—she would be in danger if she ever neared him; therefore she had to increase her strength so as to be able to visit him without being forcefully chained down.

“Goodbye Jack, see you. I promise... I’ll make it up to you someday if I can. Good thing everyone’s still safe. And one day, I will come visit, one last time.”

***

In dreadful engulfing darkness sat the faint visage of a male. Long locks of green hair draped unto the endless space at which he floated in along with a pale body before him.

The body before him slept peacefully; long black lashes that fanned across his peaceful visage stood as still as ever, a pair of bloodless lips which were sewn shut, pink lines stretched across the edges of his eyes and was so pale he seemed to illuminate the dark space; one could mistake the male for a sleeping vampire.

“Jerry…” Jack muttered as he cusped the lovely strands of whitish hair which were as smooth as ever to his lips, softly caressing it. “Are you watching me?”

Jack’s dull eyes flickered with slight insanity as his grasp on the strands tightened. How could his beloved be so heartless as to watch him suffer without a single word of affection?

“A simple word will do Jerry, so I can learn of your position (and drag you down to this hell you thrust me into).”

“I love you so much I swear; so why, why must you hurt me so? My lovely pet… I promise that my punishment will be light. Just your presence is enough, to just be with me… is it so hard?” Jack said seriously with a terrifying smile as the space around him shook with great tremor.

And then he giggled, at first it was low and slow then slowly it got louder until it blew into a full chasm of laughter—a deep laughter that resounded through the space.

He threw his head back with his hand over his face as he laughed out loud, his desperate laughter echoing and reverberating throughout the surrounding as his other hand grasped Jerry’s hair even more tightly.

He laughed, he laughed, and laughed some more, the more he laughed the more his sorrow echoed, the more his desperation spilled and the more the space around him quivered. Even as a god he was, even with all his strength all he could ever do was laugh—laughter.

Yes, laughter, that was all he could do. Someone or some people greater than he held his beloved and he had no ability to stop them... all he could do was laugh at his powerlessness in mockery.

“But it could all change,” a voice suddenly stated.

Jack’s laughter stopped abruptly as his eyes flashed and the next minute his hand held the throat of a strange figure. He frowned suddenly though as he looked to his hands only to see an empty space with nobody—the figure had varnished.

Swerving forward instantly with a deep furrow he saw the figure bent before Jerry’s corpse looking at it ever so sweetly as if having found his long-lost lover and this erupted a fury within Jack’s heart. No one was allowed to look at his beloved like that!

“Aa, ah ah,” the figure cooed warningly, “One more step and I will destroy it.”

This forced Jack to stop as he glared at the intruder fiercely, this intruder was strong and he, Jack felt his seriousness.

“Who are you?” Jack asked cautiously.

The figure smiled and with a wide grin appeared from within the shadows as he looked towards Jack whose visage paled.

“Take a guess?"

Jack was rendered speechless at the person that appeared before him.

“Impossible!”

With exotic black hair and striking green eyes, a beauty mark below his left eye, his entirety had an uncanny resemblance to a certain familiar persona even if their personality was miles apart. He stared at Jerry whose face was still pale and with a grin stated-

“I can help you find Jerry… or should I say, Dina?”
