W2 (33)

Feral looked at the mirror intensely and was beyond stunned at his new appearance, his short black hair had grown out and had turned pure white, as white as snow. His silverish eyes sparkled with hidden gentleness within them and with a light curve of his lips, his entire visage brightened up his surroundings.

“Ugh,” Feral gagged slightly, just now he felt his entire being enter into an illusionary state of purity. Angels really were powerful, all he copied was their look and he already felt so uplifted….

Looking at the outstretched feathery white wings on his back stretching out like four arms fixed behind he felt a strange sense of satisfaction. He flexed the wings, causing a current of wind to sweep through the surroundings slightly upsetting it.

Watching the unfortunate glass cup caught up in his test fall to its ultimate dismiss, Feral felt stunned. Apparently, the VR reality conjurer also worked for real?!

“Don’t be too surprised; it seems like as long as it’s not a living creature it can manifest it,” Genad explained as he performed a few stretches while getting ready to transform as well.

Meanwhile, Paws who sat behind all these preparations simply played about as he munched on some pop crisps causing Feral to giggle slightly at his playfulness.

“So it can create food?”

“Yeah, but it’d probably varnish along with its everything once chewed and swallowed.”

“…. What about weapons?”

“Yes, but the injuries produced would be false.”

“So these wings, this wind, everything… is fake?”

“Try flying.”

Feral did as told and was slapped in the face with the reality that this shit was all show and no tell. He couldn’t fly! Just as his mind acknowledged that all this was fake, the effect it had on his mind faded and all he could see was… nothing but the old, bland him.

Feral: …..

As for how he would fly, Genad had gifted him an artifact that increased his wind ability both in duration and power allowing him to fully harness his wind magic. So all the VR did was project his appearance while he (and the item) did the whole work.

‘Fucking useless!’ Dina screeched internally. How the fuck can something that swallowed an entire race of fucking geniuses be so worthless?!

It was useful, Dina had to agree but not to the extent it was supposed to be! It ATE an entire race!

Feral was still growling at the VR when suddenly he heard a sharp tear, startling him, and turning around his face turned white. His gasps were instantly replaced with leaps as he appeared in front of Genad circling him worriedly along with the beast.

Before him and Paws, Genad was hunched over on the ground half-naked, he was covered in sweat so much that his entire trouser was drenched like a person soaked in a river. His short purplish hair scattered across the floor and his pale face repeatedly banged on the wooden floor in an attempt to endure the searing pain.

It was so fucking painful!

He felt his entire body burning up like a million fire ants crawling through his insides, thousands of scorched blades burning his skin and a hundred spears continuously thrusting through his marrows.

He let out a loud growl in agony as his fingers clawed through the floor, its wooden scraps piercing through them causing minor bleeding. Genad however seemed oblivious to this minor pain and as he scratched harder, the scraps pierced deeper into his fingers causing the bleeding to increase.

Feral watched with a pale face, his hands shakingly reaching out to grab the male’s hand in a feeble attempt to stop this torture only for his action to be cut short by a deep shriek from Genad’s throat and a nasty tearing sound.

Looking up, he watched in horror as a pair of skeletal wings ripped through Genad’s back prompting blood to splatter all over them, soiling their appearance with blood. They watched as Genad’s distinct growls soon turned to light whines as the wings behind him slowly condensed a milky glow.

Soon, the white glow completely enveloped Genad momentarily blinding Feral who still stubbornly refused to look away until the light finally receded.

THUD!

Once it did, Genad fell to the ground with a grunt and Feral was stupefied on glancing at the male once more.

His short purplish hair had turned a beautiful gold and possessed a shimmering luster that seemed to blind all sinners, his body had lost its usual paleness and was instead replaced by a healthy lightness that actuated his beauty. He had fainted but his visage betrayed him and instead of what was supposed to be a face filled with suffering, it was replaced by a face filled with light.

A light so bright that Feral was subconsciously thrown back by the pressure. This wasn’t right though. Wasn’t it just a physical transformation? Why did it have a spiritual presence as well?

Just as Feral could wonder more, his eyes landed on the already feathered wings on the male’s back. It was beautiful, its virtue shone through at a glance and Dina was firmly convinced that this wasn’t just a physical transformation.

Looking at her ‘wings’ one could tell a visible difference at a glance. One being superficial and almost looked artificial when closely observed and the other seemed to be imbued by a certain presence within it.

That presence was holiness.

But why would a demon possess holiness?

“Okay Zero, you have some major explaining to do. Genad’s a half-angel? How is that even possible? It’s even more impossible than Feral's heritage, they directly contradict each other. Their enmity couldn’t be any clearer and a being actually has both blood and hasn’t been destroyed by their conflict yet?!” Dina asked.

Angels and demons were direct opposites. Not only did they physically repulse each other, but they also spiritually repelled themselves! A being possessing both blood would probably die from the pressure of the conflicting bloodline, so how? How could a person with both bloodlines exist?

It was even more understandable for Feral to possess human and elf blood, as although elf’s bloodlines were prideful and wouldn’t want contact with any races they didn’t directly repel each other.

For demons and angels, however, it was different. They not only repelled each other, both were in constant enmity and their hate for each other was a freaking icon!

“This is something you’ll have to find out yourself eventually Dina.”

Dina sighed internally, this was beginning to get annoying. However, her attention was immediately diverted to watching the pitiful male before her. She felt her heart hurt, seeing how much the person had suffered in this transformation just to fulfill his wishes she couldn’t help but reevaluate him.

Rather than being reckless wasn’t he rather just ambitious? The guide hadn’t really told her much about this target except that his dad was brutally killed by the demons even though he was innocent and now he was up for revenge.

It was the usual cliché so Dina didn’t pay much attention to it then but as she knelt down before the male staring at his bloodied and pitiful state she couldn’t help but rethink all her thoughts.

She didn’t know what the male had suffered, she couldn’t tell because she wasn’t with him and the system barely told her shit. Looking back to all the things the male had done she couldn’t help but conclude...

This person needed help and she had to help this person.

Not just for the meter but for his diligence. He was so serious and ambitious, willingly taking all these risks like he had nothing to lose but he did have something, in fact, lots of things to lose but he still went on.

It was admirable and she found herself admiring this person, he might not have been good to her but really who cared? This was a mission anyways, and as long as she filled the meter then whatever else she did didn’t matter, now, did it?

‘Hm, I guess I could extend a hand to the ‘less fortunate’,’ Dina stated placing emphasis on the ‘less fortunate’ while she wiggled her brows shamelessly at Zero who directly ignored her.

Dina: QAQ

Flashing the anxious Paws with a reserved smile, Feral leaned forwards as he scooped the male in his arms.

The wounds from the sudden extrusion of the wings had been long healed due to the angels' healing powers but the male was still feverish. As he held his quivering body in his arms, Feral’s skin blushed a faint red just from the hotness.

He smiled faintly, leaning unto the discomforted male he placed a soft kiss on his head whilst muttering, “Rest.”

This seemed to somehow mysteriously work as the incessant quivering stopped and the male leaned closer into his arms.

It was quite the sight, due to the petite nature of Feral, the image looked a bit funny with how he held the huge male in his arms. And if not for his training, Feral surely wouldn’t have the capacity to pull such a stunt.

He brought the male closer to his body, and just then a flickering sound was heard and the next second Feral was covered by a set of wings, five in total…

Wait!

Five?!

One, two, three, four…. It really was five?!

Genad was a… evolutionary saint?!
