Chapter 79 : Dinner!

An elderly, one who had dedicated his life to Konoha, now faced the bitter irony of betrayal and deceit.

She was the wife of the First Hokage, the founder of the village, and the sole Jinchūriki of the Nine Tails, the Konoha-tailed beast.

One might assume she held power over Konoha, yet she chose to focus on its peaceful development, nurturing talent and relinquishing her own authority.

She passed the mantle to the village's senior executives and retired as an old man among the Senju clan.

But in the blink of an eye, they began deceiving this old lady, and it would have continued had it not been for the arrival of Kazuhiko.

She could only lament the news of her clans demise.

It was truly a heart-wrenching thought.

Kazuhiko let out a deep sigh, taking the old man's hands and spoke with warmth, "This is my duty, for the sake of my clan and our homeland. Even if it means giving my life, I will do it. In the future, the Land of Whirlpools will thrive under my care, and you can rest assured."

Uzumaki Mito replied, "Alright, I'll live on forever, just to see that day."

With a smile, Uzumaki Mito patted Kazuhiko's hand and said, "In the meantime, take care of yourself."

As Kazuhiko thought about inviting Grandma Mito and the three elders inside for tea and conversation, a figure rushed towards them.

Kazuhiko raised his head, and Uzumaki Mito and the third elder followed his gaze to the door, where there was a knock.

The third elder opened the door, knowing it was the Third Hokage.

He had heard of Uzumaki Mito's meeting with Kazuhiko and had rushed over.

"Kazuhiko, I've come to invite you to a dinner, and the elders with you are also welcome. It's a special dinner prepared by the Konoha elders to welcome you."

Uzumaki Mito explained her presence, and Third Hokage seemed surprised, "Oh, Mito-sama, why are you here?"

Kazuhiko thought to himself, "Such pretense, as if he didn't rush over earlier for fear we'd say something else to Mito grandma."

Uzumaki Mito replied, "I came to see the younger generation of our clan, the new head of the Uzumaki clan."

"I used to hold him as a child, and it's been so many years," Mito added, a touch of nostalgia in her eyes.

Third Hokage, too, seemed to be reminded of the past by her words, a soft expression flitting across his face before he regained his composure.

He said, "Mito-sama, please join us for dinner. If there's anything you'd like to discuss, we'd be honored to have your advice."

Uzumaki Mito glanced at Kazuhiko, and he nodded with a smile.

Third Hokage's face darkened for a moment but quickly returned to his usual smile, as if the momentary shadow had never crossed his face.

"Very well, I'll join you for the meal," Uzumaki Mito agreed, her eyes lighting up at the prospect of her first dinner party in years.

With that, they invited the other five elders, and they all headed to the Hokage Building.

The Hokage Building was one of the grandest structures in Konoha, and it had its own reception room. The dinner was to be held in a spacious room on the west side.

Upon entering the room, Kazuhiko noticed that the guests were seated on two sides.

The two elders, represented by Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura, sat together, while Danzo sat quietly off to the side, and another elder seemed equally reserved but occasionally offered a few words.

This was what Kazuhiko observed upon arrival.

After exchanging pleasantries, they took their seats. The six Uzumaki clan elders sat together. Uzumaki Mito sat at the center, flanked by Kazuhiko and Third Hokage.

As the dishes were served, everyone wore polite smiles and shared light conversation, discussing various aspects of the ninja world.

They talked about world events and shared ninja anecdotes. Even Danzo, though silent, was present.

The mood was jovial, with everyone seemingly enjoying themselves.

Uzumaki Mito was delighted to see everyone having a good time, her first lively dinner in years. Young clan members engaged her in conversation, making her laugh often.

However, her appetite was minimal, her emotions fluctuating. After a few sips of sake, Uzumaki Mito bid everyone farewell and was escorted back to her quarters.

Observing her departure, the others gradually set aside their food, sharing a single thought: "Here it comes."
