Bangladeshi nationalism is an ideology promoted by the former president of Bangladesh, Ziaur Rahman . This ideology emerged in the late 1970s and is the institutional basis of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), one of the main political parties in Bangladesh. [1]
During the colonial period , the practice of nationalism was observed in this country from the time of the anti-colonial movement against the British . Soon after this a concept of religious nationalism emerged, which later evolved into ethnic nationalism. After the independence war of Bangladesh in 1971, leaders like Ziaur Rahman started promoting the ideology of Bangladeshi nationalism. Which is basically based on the spiritual bond of Bangladeshis living within the borders of Bangladesh. [2]
