Chapter 3 – Different sides of a story

"Well, I just… have a bad heart. I have some cancer, which makes my heart pumping harder. So I use my powers to help me with that… every second of my existence," Wrap says.

If I were drinking coffee, I'd probably spit it out. But Wrap says it with such calmness… in front of a kid moreover.

Wrap was a lot of things surely. With everyone I met that day on the bus… he still somehow felt the weirdest.

I see Scelestha's mood is a bit off. She must have felt bad for judging Spotlight, but… she HAD murdered people, so well.

And also almost murdered me, when we are at it. She felt psychotic that moment but now… Saturn was a weird place which made weird people I suppose. It fucked one's brain surely.

"What are you thinking?" Witch asks.

"I…-well, everything. Everything which happened from that moment you jumped into that bus," I say, and Witch just nods, with a blank expression. "That weird bird. You jumping out of the van that day. And then about…"

"The disc," Witch says.

"The disc," I say, getting tensed.

"What happened?" God-mode asks, seeing some tense faces after the bringing up of the disc.

"Well… it should be in the rubble. We'll just… go back for it," I say, but deep down feel the possibility of it being broken.

"What if it broke?" Witch asks, making my heart clench.

"Ah… then we need a technician who knows how to fix alien tech," I say, chuckling lightly, and hit myself on the cheek, to concentrate.

"Even I myself can't do it," Scelestha says, feeling a bit distorted.

"Uh… O! Can you fix objects too, like you do people?"

"I don't think that is how my powers work," O says.

"Yeah, she can't," Rusk says.

"I could try fixing it," Wrap lifts his hand like a kid.

"What, by wrapping it?" Witch asks, making me sigh.

"But the point is to find it, and then get it back to its owner, back in the dome."

"The Bengalore dome?" O asks, and I nod.

"We need to also-"

"Hey guys…" Thunder says, appearing from a distance. "So… I'm really grateful but… I need to go."

We just give a question mark face, and I do too, even with my tense face.

"Well, I and Spotlight… need to help a friend get out and all. It just came up so…"

"Yeah, her appearing in the academy or whatever will be bad for her, right?" Scelestha asks.

"Right, that too. Didn't think of that."

"We should also go to find Feather. Spotlight said that the Examiner has interest in him, we shouldn't just take it lightly," Scelestha says.

"That… Feather is the biggest part of how Saturn makes their powered individuals, including me and Spotlight. His blood, they have it contained, and they radiate it across the cell of their… lab rats -human-rats. Not many survive but, some experiments and people do. Only because of Feather's blood. And he is the only source so…"

"They seem to have lost too many of what they made," I say.

"And all the survival of the fortunate was to collect back some. But… this must be plan B, in case that failed," Witch says.

"Opportune," Rusk corrects. "We need to find him… Feather."

"Forcerer would know how to find him," Scelestha says.

"Rusk… you could find O, can't you find Feather?" Wrap asks.

"That… no. Not exactly what I… it's complicated but… Feather is as much a dragon as… Witch," Rusk says, and Witch stares at him. "Dragons can do bits of two things… transformation and… magic basically. Healing, fire-breathing, teleportation. Transforming into a reptile, having sharp claws, good wings, good legs. And only parts of either. But… Witch and Feather can do either, completely."

"But Feather can transform to an extent. I can't… do even a bit of what he does."

"Well, I have heard that there are these beings… dragons. We call them as the reptile-evolved. They can't transform, but they can use magic of various kinds. So Feather could just be similar to them, except the part that only dragons can see these reptile-evolved," Rusk says. "There is no one like you, so it is hard to determine whether you can or cannot…"

"Or Feather could just be special," Scelestha says, and Witch and her exchange glares.

"I could still try helping to find him," Rusk says.

"I could… help you. We are dragons after all," O smiles.

"Strategically speaking… when raiding a place, we'll need the guy who shields and a person who heals, just in case," I say to them.

"Well… even Wrap can help with my part," Rusk says.

"Not completely, no. It is not a force field."

"Then?"

"More like a sheet… of something. Which I can make. And it disappears after a point. Oh back then I could punch hard because I covered my hand with many layers of it."

"I'm good at… you know, sneaking, so I could go to the academy," Scelestha says.

"Can you turn invisible like me?" God-mode asks.

"As a warrior and spy, I'm good at tracking… so Feather it is then."

I almost crack-up, but she'd probably break my bones if I did, so I hold back.

"I'm obviously going with Witch. The person gets wary of new people… better not go there," I say.

"You met him once," Witch says.

"I and Rusk will go with little Psyand," O says.

"Hey, me too," God-mode says.

"Oh right, sorry."

"I obviously need to go with Spotlight… we… we will try to be helpful," Thunder says.

I try to peak at Scelestha's reaction, but my neck doesn't co-operate.

"And you?" I ask to Wrap instead.

"Right, I'm the useless one," Wrap sighs. "Ah, well… I can't let the lady go alone."

"The lady can beat your… so better just say your decision," Scelestha glares.

"Uh… yeah… I'll… let's go find Feather."

"Just a minute," I tell the others, and catch up with Thunder.

"Hey…" Thunder says, sizing me.

"Can I please… talk with Spotlight?" he stops walking. "I didn't know she was…"

"I don't think she'd want to though…"

"I'll just apologize…"

So this way, we reach at Spotlight's side. She doesn't give a pleased reaction at my presence.

"I'm sorry," I say.

Spotlight comes closer, with a blank face, and slaps me. With a clunk sound, I turn my head sideways, and to her again.

"There, happy?" Spotlight asks. "You wore an armour and all, thinking I'd hit harder?"

"You have powerful hands even now, mam. I felt that…" I say, shaking my palm over my helmet.

"Mam…?" Thunder asks.

"She is my junior after all," Spotlight… the actual Scelesthe, says.

I hug her, after a long time. "I'm sorry." With regret that it had come to a point that I have to say this.

"You idiot really thought I willingly joined the criminals? The ones we wanted to eradicate?" Spotlight asks.

"It was weird that I just woke up after everything. I first thought you sacrificed yourself but…"

"Then you thought that I was the villain. True Primevel warrior," she pats my shoulder.

"You taught me about it, after all."

"Yeah, just because I conspired against one senior… doesn't make all seniors bad."

"You guys know each other."

"Well, how do you think I could catch up sooner to your level? I have Trigon running in my blood," Spotlight scoffs.

"What's that?" Thunder asks.

Spotlight looks at Thunder and then at me.

"He knows very less. I don't think he knows what a Primevel warriors is either," I say.

"Well, I will… teach him then," Spotlight winks at me.

"Teach what?" Thunder asks.

"Let's go…"

Thunder just stands there, confused, as Spotlight just walks away, without looking back.

Ugh, she still has that crazy attitude… missed it.

Thunder waves at me and goes to catch up with Spotlight.

My mentor, my name twin, my friend… I'm glad that you're okay. Even when I thought you were dead… you were just fighting another battle. And when I was fighting mine, I remembered your words of a better day… things have gotten worse after the better day but… maybe it'll get to the best one yet.

Thank you.

I don't think now that I can be Scelesthe anymore, cause you live on… and I can't live up to you. So I'm Scelestha.

Yet I'll fight. After all… I need to. Only one of us can be the Assistant of Death. So I need to fight you for that title. Cause the HOD is out there.

"I'm sorry that I can't come with you Psyand," Lost-Bird says to Psyand, and looks at me too, apologetically.

"It's okay Mr. LB. Take care of Witch," Psyand says.

Witch looks at Psyand, and then at Lost-Bird. "Scelestha won't be coming with you either. You sure you'll be okay?"

"She apologized… she has important work too…"

Scelestha had gone, following Thunder. O and God-mode were talking among themselves too, in the distance, leaving me and Wrap: just sitting here in silence.

"It is not that…" Witch says, and sighs, seeing Psyand's confusion. "Just keep texting, okay? To him."

Psyand goes closer to Witch, and hugs her. Witch lightly rubs Psyand's head, with light taps, and looks at Lost-Bird. I find him nodding, and I see Witch form a very small smile.

Witch didn't find herself as human enough… so she was relying on the human of the group, to teach her. Good for her.

"Successor of the first dragon…" I hear in a whispering voice, and realise that it was still persisting on talking to me this way. "When will you be able to do it?"

But I was on the road opposite to Witch's.

"Mother is strong… and so are you," Witch says.

Witch's eyes widen, as I witness the hands around her tighten.

"I'm scared," Psyand says. And I feel my heart sink, hearing the sad tone. Only if it was just me and O going elsewhere… it'd be easier.

"Soon," I say, and clear my throat.

Wrap looks at me, but I don't flinch.

"I'll jump towards that place and be there… if you need me sooner than I can be there."

"I need to find that guy… I need to…"

Witch looks at Lost-Bird again, and he signs with his palm, vertically, in front of his neck.

"Yes, kill him. Make him plead to make his death easier," Witch says, and forms a smirk.

"He can't talk," Psyand says.

Lost-Bird goes and hugs Psyand too in a way; patting her head and holding her shoulder. But the face right in front of Witch, looking at her, shakes sideways.

Usually I'd crack-up but… I don't feel myself even moving a muscle in my face.

I turn towards O and God-mode. As O is talking to him, she looks at me, and smiles… but I only stare, as if I'm staring past her… into some cave, with gems.

"You have done well, finding her," Crystal-cave says.

I just sit on the ground, still in the same posture.

"It'll take time. But it'll happen," I say and try to look for a being on the pile of gems. "She trusts me. It'll be easy."

Yes, they are splitting... so to avoid confusion: I'll concentrate on one story arc at a time, so don't you worry.

Do wait for our name twins' PRE-LOG... it'll take a bit more time to come to light.
