CHAPTER 26: THE MARRIAGE INTRODUCTION.

One week after Susan had conceded to marry Orkumaga, he took her to his parents to introduce her to them and as they reached home, Orkumaga's mother Dooter couldn't wait for his son Orkumaga to tell her who Susan was as she instantly inquired to know who the gorgeous young looking girl was to him but he ignored.

As she persisted after they all greeted each other, Mr. Martins got pissed and told her (Dooter) to allow them to unwind, instructing her to always try to do everything at the right time but Dooter (Orkumaga's mother) then mumbled to Mr. Martins her (Husband) that she would not accept any thing outside what her mind is telling her and at that moment, Orkumaga's father (Mr Martins) comprehending his wife(Dooter) explained to her that he also want him to marry but there's no need to impose a wife willy-nilly on him.

After eating the food that was prepared for them by his mother, Orkumaga called his parents and introduced Susan to them as his girlfriend and again notified them that she's the one he wants to marry. Shortly he said Susan was the girl he wants to marry, his parents became happy and welcomed her.

Subsequently welcoming her, Mr Martins whispered to Susan that they can't wait to have such a damsel in their family as their daughter in-law but again asked her where she was from and instantly Susan told him that she was from Omogwuma in Imo state.

Mr. Martins, after he finished asking Susan questions, he swerved to Orkumaga and inquired if he had ever visited her family and he agreed and told his father that they all understands that she's his companion but as they have agreed on marrying each other, her parents are not yet aware but he Planned to introduce her to them before letting them know.

Orkumaga after knowing that his parents have accepted his girlfriend Susan, he said to them that he would love to go with her to her family and let them know their intents to get married and they all agreed.

After Mr. Martins finished talking, Orkumaga now thanked them and said to them that he's proud to have them as his parents for invariably supporting him.

Few days after getting permission from his parents, Orkumaga called his girlfriend Susan and told her that he wants to come to her house and let her parent know of their intentions and she told him that she can't wait to welcome him. Again, he said to her that he's already on his way to her house.

Few minutes after telling Susan that he was on his way to her house, her phone rang and when she picked the call, it was Orkumaga who was already at the gate. so, she went and opened the gate for him and again took him to her parent.

As they entered the parlor, Susan's parents discerned the smiles on her face, asked her why she was so delighted and at the same time welcomed Orkumaga and showed him a seat and he instantly sat down.

Susan in answering her parent's question, told them that even though they have known Orkumaga as her companion, they have not known much about their relationship. She announced to them that they have decided to come out officially. When she said that, Susan's father, an Igbo man named Emeka inquired Orkumaga Where he was from and he said to him that he's a Tiv Man from Benue state. Haven heard that, Mr. Emeka again asked Orkumaga if he was furthermore aware and in support of what his daughter have said and instantly he said yes and explained that he wants to marry their daughter as she is the best thing that has ever happened to him since he became matured.

Hearing such wonderful words from Orkumaga, Mrs. Lily, Susan's mother also an Igbo woman said to Orkumaga that, his words have recollected her of when her husband Mr. Emeka went to ask for her hand in marriage. She said that a mother will always wants her daughter to marry to a good person and from the few years they have known him, he's not bad for her daughter. After she finished talking, Mr. Emeka again said to him that, he's not a bad guy despite the fact that they would have loved their daughter to marry someone from the same tribe with them but as a parents, all they wants for their daughter is happiness and

for that, anyone that makes her daughter happy, the person is the champion of her heart. After he said the person who makes his daughter happy is the champion, he asked Susan if she's happy with Orkumaga and also wants to marry him and she instantly said yes.

As Susan said yes to his father, her father (Mr. Emeka) swiveled to his wife (Mrs. Lily) but understanding her husband, she nodded her head in approval without waiting for him to say what he wanted to say. Mr. Emeka and again said to Orkumaga that, they as a parents, it's their right and responsibility to support their children for their choices and decisions especially when they are matured.

Mr. Emeka after assuring his daughter (Susan) of their support, he instructed Orkumaga to go and tell his family to prepare and come to pay for her hand in marriage and again said to him that, they are from Omogwuma village in Imo state.

After telling Orkumaga where they are from, he asked him if their daughter had already told him about it and he said yes and again, he explained to him that they are living in Lagos because of work.

He told Orkumaga that any time they are ready, they will go to his village and pay for her hand and again ended by telling him that when they are ready, they should tell him so that he will let the people in the village know the date they are coming.

After Susan's parents had finished talking, Orkumaga thanked them for showing him nothing but love and again pledged to never disappoint them.

As her parents were all talking, Susan felt very happy and left the seat she was sitting and sat on the same seat with her mother leaning on her. Orkumaga after thanking Susan's parents, he told them that he would love to return home to tell his parent exactly as they have said and instantly Susan followed him to the gate to see him off as he entered his car and drove home.

When reached home, he went straight without wasting time and told his parents as Susan's parents had said and from there his parents agreed but made a decision to go and see Susan's parents as they were also in Lagos to have a discussion with them before proceeding to the village.

Few days after Orkumaga's parents had planned to visit their son's girlfriend's parents, they bought many things and told Orkumaga to lead them to the house and he agreed and took them there. On reaching house, Susan's parents were very happy to see them so they were welcomed.

Susan's parents, after welcoming Orkumaga's parents, they introduced themselves and immediately Mr Emeka told Mr Martins that his son and their daughter were friends for years but since they had never told him how serious they were in the relationship, he kept quiet though he saw their son as a nice guy.

As Mr. Emeka finished talking, Orkumaga's father Mr. Martins told him that he never knew her daughter before because it was in the school they said they started dating so it was her first time to visit his house his son took her to introduce to him but they also believes that they are good for each other.

While Mr. Martins and Mr. Emeka were discussing, Mrs. Lily and her daughter Susan went and brought out food for them to eat and they ate as one family.

After they finished eating, Mr. Martins said to them that within the few minutes they have stayed in their house, he was already in love with the family.

As Mr. Martins said he's in love with Susan's family, all of them busted with laugh then Mrs. Lily said to him that he reminded her of when they were young.

After making some jokes, Mr. Martins opened up to them that the reason for their coming to their house is to know them in person and also fix the date that they would be going to the village to perform the marital rights and Mr. Emeka without wasting time told him that they are the ones to choose the date that would be convenient for them so that he would also notify his people in the village and from there they instantly agreed on a date to be at the end of the month.

After they all agreed on a date, Mr. Emeka again reminded Mr. Martins that he's from Omogwuma in Imo state.

They exchanged pleasantries and Mr. Martins told them that they would loved to return home and they all agreed and instantly, they walked them off and stood there heartily watching as they drove off.
