Upon closer look, Kim Jae-hoon was shocked to see that the appearance of these beasts was somewhat similar to the animals from Earth where he came from.
One of them seemed to be a white rabbit who had an average height but with a single horn on its head. It was gnashing its teeth continuously towards the opponent at the front.
At the opposite side, a giant brown bear was standing tall while roaring at the enemy with a thunderous sound that reverberated throughout the forest.
Due to that, the young man and the ghost had to cover their ears since it was extremely loud for them.
In addition, the bear had a peculiar armor on him that looked like a turtle shell and it was black in colour.
For a while, both the monsters did not move an inch from their positions as they were being cautious and just glared at each other with a murderous intent without blinking even once.
"What are they doing?" Kim Jae-hoon asked curiously.
"They are gouging out each other's abilities before they battle it out."
"I see. But its obvious that the bear will win."
"Is that so? Then why am I sensing dangerous vibes from the rabbit rather than the bear?"
"That tiny rabbit? No way!" He awkwardly smiled. "Look at that bear's size. He's so big and has a freaking armor on its body. Do you think that rabbit can even injure the bear a bit?"
Upon hearing Kim Jae-hoon's statement, Park Sun-jae chuckled. "Brother! In this world, nothing is set in stone until we see the outcome of the matter. So, don't come to a conclusion before seeing their real strength. Looks can be deceiving, you know. You must be aware of this fact by now."
After listening to his remarks, the painful memories that the young man experienced in the journey resurfaced in his mind and the wounds on his right hand started aching again.
As soon as he remembered the nightmare from the past, Kim Jae-hoon just got chills down his spine. "I know. I know. You don't need to remind me of that."
"Good that you know then." His partner smiled.
"But I don't get it." The young man suddenly whispered into the ghost's ears who in response, looked at him with a confused expression.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean.. who are these two beasts? Why aren't they affected by the scent I'm exuding?" Kim Jae-hoon asked in a straightforward manner.
"I have no idea either." Park Sun-jae shook his head. "As far as I know, there are only two types of beasts in the forest who can endure such poisonous scent. The type of beasts who are poisonous themselves and isn't affected by any toxic substance that are found here. As for the second type, these types of beasts are high level monsters whose strength is at a peak level, the strongest, according to the standards of this blue zone. Hence, they are most probably the boss monsters in this area."
"If what you're saying is true, then we are doomed if they notice us."
"You're right. But I don't think they have noticed us yet. No, even if they have sensed our presence, they would ignore us for the time being."
"Why do you think so?"
"The reason is simple. These two beasts are too busy with their fight that they don't have any leisure time to bat an eye on us. Because if any one of them gets distracted, the other one will take that opportunity as an opening to attack its enemy." The ghost stated with confidence in his words.
"Is that so? Then, we should take this chance and escape from here." The young man quickly said with a nervous face.
"No, let's wait a bit longer and watch their fight. It's not everyday we get to see such fights." He said excitedly.
"But its more risky to stay here. Once their battle is over, the winner might come after us next."
"Don't worry! Before that happens, I'll warn you and we can go our way to avoid them. Moreover, any of them who comes out victor would still be exhausted and injured from their fight. Therefore, I don't think they'll have the energy to chase us."
Kim Jae-hoon wasn't sure if staying here would be a good idea. But the ghost was right too. He needs to get as much experience from the monster battles so that he can prepare for the countermeasure if he encountered similar monsters in the future. So, he agreed to his proposal and stayed there for a bit until it was safe.
Meanwhile, the bear lost his patience as he took out his claws and jumped on the rabbit to smash it into a meat paste. However, the rabbit saw it coming as he instinctively evaded the attack while getting out of the way and also launched a counterattack on the bear. He spat out some grey-colour liquid substance from its mouth and aimed at its face.
The bear immediately covered his face while criss-crossing its arms and was able to avoid the liquid to land on the face.
As soon as the liquid-like substance touched the bear's hands, it cried loudly in pain as the area where it landed, started burning the skin rapidly.
"It's acid!" Kim Jae-hoon mumbled to himself.
"It seems so. He must be a poisonous type as expected." Park Sun-jae replied upon hearing his statement.
While the bear was distracted by the pain, the rabbit took the opportunity to shoot out more acid arrows from its mouth.
The bear immediately sensed danger and reflexively dodge the acid bombs and avoid them on landing any of its body parts.
Within a few moments, the bear recovered from its injury as it attacked the rabbit again with its claws. The rabbit tried to evade the attack again but the bear intercepted him and grabbed one of his legs while smashing him on the ground.
The rabbit coughed up blood and tried to break away from the bear's hold. The tiny beast dug its claws into bear's hands as his grasp on the rabbit loosened up.
As a result, the rabbit broke free from the bear as he attacked him with its acid and moved cautiously than before. That way, the latter wasn't able to catch the former easily this time.
Since he was more agile than the bear, it had an upper hand in the movement speed to attack and evade the enemy. Hence, the bear was getting more injured than before and was losing the battle.
While these two monsters were busy fighting each other, Kim Jae-hoon and Park Sun-jae observed the situation from afar while hiding behind the tree.
"I think we should go. The battle will be over soon. The rabbit is winning." The ghost said.
"Yes, we should." Kim Jae-hoon nodded.
Soon afterwards, the two of them slowly walked away from there and took a detour to avoid meeting them.
While they were going away from there, the rabbit heard their footsteps as it glanced at their direction and spotted them.
The rabbit viciously smiled while facing at that direction before turning around and continuing the fight with the giant bear.
