Chapter 43

He sat with his back against the barricade as he held a medium pack of frozen carrots against his forehead. The woman that had screamed came back with a bag.

"Here" she handed it to him.

He wondered if he should tell her thank you when she was the reason he would be sporting a bump on his forehead. He took the bag. There was the whole thing about never taking things from strangers or talking to strangers. They were the only ones on the bridge. He wasn't a fighter so if this woman happened to have bad intentions he had no idea how he would fare. Then again she wouldn't buy him stuff if she was going to rob him.

"Thanks" he mumbled as he pressed the bag harder against his forehead.

The woman hummed and sat down beside him on the road. He quirked his brow. This was weird. He had told her that he felt dizzy and she had decided that he hadn't eaten. Not like he had denied but still, no one went around and bought food for strangers.
